2009 Toyota Venza 3.5L V6

Wife's car AC has been acting funny for past couple of years.
Fan barely blows air out. Mrs. said when its really really hot out...fan doesn't blow at all ...and by the time she gets home..air is cool...but barely blowing.
In the morning time...air is blowing strong and is freezing cold.

Sounds to me like some connections are loose?? Heat expanding them to where they're not connecting properly....??

Help.

Sounds like the damper may be sticking and blocking air to the vents.

Heater Blower Motor Resistor Replacement
When the blower motor resistor fails, the air conditioner and heater may still work, but air may blow from the vents at only some of the fan speed settings.

If the resistor isn't replaced for some time after starting to act up, it may fail completely, leaving the entire system useless.

I saw this a while back on other Toyota stuff around the same year.

When the fan is barely moving air, slap/smack/tap the blower motor? What happens?

It doesn’t have a automatic temp control with stuck or broken blend door issue does it.

Does it have a air filter for the air circulation system?
I ask because my daughters VW does and she didn't know about it, after I changed it out all was good.

Any difference in the fresh air and recirculation positions?
Can you actually hear the motor when the airflow is poor ?
Sounds more like the blower itself. Try the smack method mentioned above and see if it gets better. A clogged cabin filter could be part of the issue but will usually blow ok on recirculation setting and poor on fresh air. Just depends on location of filter

I had a fuse pop in my old 02 Ram that only served the cooling fan for the coils. When I slowed/stopped, the AC got warm. When I moved, it was “luke cold.” A 5-cent fuse fixed it.

Well guys...I hope this was an easy fix.

Seems cabin air filter was pretty dirty. I normally change these EVERY year right after the pollen season....seems like I remember Advance Auto being out of stock on them...and we'll...life happens..lol

The blower motor is working...I still smacked it some...even pulled the cover off to hear and feel better.

Fingers crossed!

Update/ more help.....
@Mike Overlay

So, it seems to have fixed it by replacing the cabin air filter. Cooler AC....better fan output.

However...Mrs. informed me that the other day when it was Really really hot....like 98 degrees.....heat index of like 105-110...it wasn't working. Wasn't blowing at all. Once it cooled down by having windows down (5-6 minutes) it started working normally.
I'm thinking I have a loose connection wire somewhere...heat is expanding it enough to not make a good connection....cooler temps has it to where it's making the connection.

Ideas?

I would check to see if there is air coming up to the defrost windshield area when it does not work. That is a default position for vacuum line and reservoir leaks which control switches. If no then proceed.

Next check the resistor for the blower motor. If it has a reading during the failed time when she gets home then the issue is most likely a sealed motor bearing which leads to blower replacement. The resistor is cheap at a non OEM store if you just want to try it first. On my vehicles it’s under the hood up close to the windshield. Internet search should show you.
