I got this off Babylon Bees Facebook today. If you aren’t familiar with them it’s a site that creates 100% satire news like articles with a conservative/Christian slant. They poke fun at everyone, even themselves, but of course the liberals leave too much comedy gold on the table to not get a lot of attention.

I found this to be interesting and one more reason snopes is worthless as a fact checker.

Readers of The Bee,

Snopes is at it again. We had hoped that a demand letter from our attorneys would prompt changes. And it seemed to. Snopes did go back and edit their defamatory fact-check, revising some of the language that suggested we were deliberately misleading people. However, they've subsequently published a new rating for satire called "Labeled Satire." Their explanation of this rating says the label "satire" is often misapplied to content that doesn't really qualify as satire — and Snopes has made it clear that they feel our content falls into that category. From their view, we're just pretenders, using the label "satire" to our advantage so we can hoodwink the masses. It's really extraordinary, especially since they've acknowledged in private communication with us that there is a "clear distinction" between our satire and intentionally misleading fake news. For some reason, they refuse to acknowledge the clear distinction in their published articles.

On top of all this, they're now promoting a survey that suggests satire is causing too much confusion, posing "a problem for democracy." The research conducted for this survey appears to be shoddy at best. But that didn't stop Snopes from using it to advance the narrative that our content is deceptive and problematic.

We'll close with the same call to action we offered before: If you value The Babylon Bee and want to see us prevail against Snopes and anyone else who might seek to discredit or deplatform us, please consider becoming a subscriber. Your support really will make a difference. It already has made a difference. Subscription revenue covered our legal fees last month, which exceeded $4,000. For that, we're sincerely grateful.

This reminds me of when my daughter once came home upset about a poor grade on a creative poetry assignment. I asked, How can they "grade" you on CREATIVE poetry??

don’t be fooled, they love this “controversy”

BB’s Snopes articles have been hilarious! BB is clearly the winner so far, this is getting written up in a bunch of blogs and news sources.

Wrong.

It could be a theory or a hypothesis.

Therefore, you sir are a liar.

:)
So let's see if I read you right, stating something untrue does not mean you are a liar which makes your statement untrue... and makes you a liar.

Gotcha.o_O

Also theory and hypothesis aren't statements of fact so...

Except for when they are coincidentally factual, you liar.

Sorry Francis Bacon, even when they are right they still aren't given as statements of fact.

Actually even then they aren't true, they are just not disproven until the next theory comes along.

A statement is either true or it isn't. If it's not true it is a lie. I side with Snopes on this.

So, I think the dress you are wearing is ugly.
That's a statement, right ?
You said, " this dress is so pretty, it even matches my eyes "
Another statement, correct ?

Which one is the lie?

If they've given as fact and you disagree, that not only indicates you're a liar but that you're also wrong!

And you said "a statement..." , not " a statement, given as fact....".

LIAR!

A ‘Fact Checker’ Declares War On Satire
When we make fun of liberals, Snopes pretends to take us seriously and labels our jokes ‘false.’

If your job is to make people laugh, what do you do when your brand of humor is classified as dangerous?

I run the Babylon Bee, a satirical website, and we’ve had to face that question a lot lately. The “fact checkers” at Snopes.com—once a reliable source for distinguishing reality from urban legends—have been smearing the Bee as “fake news.” They don’t seem to have a problem when we make fun of Trump-worship, conservatives, fundamentalism and megachurches. But when we target Democrats and the left, suddenly we’re branded...

And you have to subscribe to WSJ to read any further.

Comedians are all just a bunch of dirty liars. All those stories that they tell that just aren’t true. Horrific.

Sorry Francis Bacon, even when they are right they still aren't given as statements of fact.

Ahhh, but you didn't originally address the manner in which they were given, you simply alluded to the question of their factuality.

Also theory and hypothesis aren't statements of fact so...

You're going to have to be a better liar in order to be a more convincing one.

Actually even then they aren't true, they are just not disproven until the next theory comes along.

So how did gravity work before Newton's theories were accepted as universal laws by the scientific community? Again, you'll need to become a better liar if you want to be a convincing one.
