Noticed several vendors are discontinuing their Keymod products, one with a tombstone RIP Keymod!
I only have two Keymod rails, they came with the uppers.

Who wants their rail to look like it came from The Home Depot?

I think I have 1 rifle kit I bought from PSA on sale a few years ago that was Keymod. Didn’t know any better. It’s been fine, but I agree it does kinda look like shelving.

I guess they thought it would have better ventilation vs other mounts. ;)

It works fine but it wasn't as popular. I have a couple set up the way I want so no worries. Also have m-lok and some old alpha rails.

This year, I've bought two guns with rails, both Sigs, one was an M-400 AR with M-LOK and one was a Sig MPX pistol (2nd generation) with Keymod. So Sig is still selling them both.

BCM was able to keep keymod alive through sheer force of BCM Fanboyism.

But after soldiering on for a few years, even they had to admit m-lok is more tactical.

The proof was in the SOCOM study a few years ago. Everyone wants to be tactical and like SOCOM, and once they decided to go to MLOK (and they still use 1913 rails, too....), everyone dropped KM like a hot potato. But yeah, BCM latched onto KM early and heavy, as did Noveske and a few others. KM still works, but not my favorite cup of tea.

The great thing about keymod was the fact that I could mount my AR accessories to my shelves in my garage. That way, I could mount my tactical flashlight and still feel tactical when I needed a little extra light on my workbench. You know tactical light is better than regular light. When I got my keymod attachment for the chainsaw bayonet, It mounted perfectly to the shelves and turned them in to a table saw. I use my tactical laser as a way to mark the location of holes for my drill. How could we get away from such an awesome system?

:D

Sig reps that were here last week confirmed they are dropping the design as well.

Haha, so true! Hadn't thought about the SOCOM angle, but you really hit the nail there.

I have a couple Keymod but I don’t really care what shape the holes are since I don’t attach anything to my hand guards. I just like sleek, slim hand guards and those happened to be Keymod when I built those guns ~5yr ago.

I'll jump on the confession train too :D I bought an upper from PSA back several years ago when they were on sale (OK, so they always have something on sale, LOL), because it had a FF Keymod handguard on it at a really good (at the time) price. I bought enough bits to add a little piece of Pic rail for a light, and a QD sling mount. That's all I need or want on the thing. It's on the coyote gun I keep at my dad's place. Since I already bought it, it works, and the AR market is currently in a wagon rut, there is absolutely no reason to get rid of it. Maybe it'll be a collector's item one day :p

I don't have a loyalty to one or the other and couldn't really care less about the current trend. I have a couple fat keymod handguards that fit over my suppressor so I like them pretty well. And for a while Noveske made these cheap scales and finger stops that I think work great. The short pic rail bits I've hung on them were made for Mlok but fit keymod just fine too. I just build an Mlok upper and it works. They all work.

I don’t care about trends. I put this gun together before the fall of Keymod. Keymod does everything I ask of it. I even prefer it to MLok for ease of accessory install. Some Keymod rails are real ugly but I think they look ok on the BCM KMR rail. I don’t consider myself a Keymod fan, but it works fine for me.

Guess that makes me a bastaģe.

I run a 15" Midwest gen 1 rail on my "nice" rifle. Picatinney machined on top but the 2" and 5" pic rails they included are all I gets for anywhere else lol.

I own zero "one nut+phallus" style rails.

All the others run cheap magpul moe clamshells up front.

I guess their "mlok" is different from the older stuff. But it all fits just fine. Whether it's the usual magpul stuff or the "mlok":)
