Semi-auto 300blk pistol, 5.5” barrel 1:5 twist.

Thinking 1000fps and plan to suppress eventually, probably a form1 can.

Thoughts?
Experience?

Dang that's a short barrel. No experience with that twist. I imagine you want to be pretty heavy to stabilize.

I load those Lee 230s over 8.2 of H110. Burns fast enough to cycle my 8" AR pistol and it's a bunny fart out of my Ruger American. Stable through a can. I believe mine are 1/8 and 1/7 respectively...

Your mileage may vary with that monster...

Thinking about playing with vv n105. Start at 5 gr under a 220gr pill. Test first in the handi rifle which may not stabilize them, but will also not blow up until there are other obvious pressure signs. Then to the rattler w/o a can to see what stabilizes.

Loading tonight, shooting tomorrow.

Interest in this.
1/5?? Hopefully it has a giant leade for 250gr+.
You will need to try hard to damage that 300blk Handi. I've abused mine and it just laughs.

Didn’t blow anything up. Recoil was negligible with all loads, and none were hard to extract from the handi rifle or showed any other pressure signs. Unfortunately, none were very accurate either.

Today I bought about 10 different commercial loads, from 110gr supers to 220gr subs. The best groups came from a 110gr Hornady V-max. In general the heavier bullets did not group well. Worst was maybe 3” at 25 yards.

On a very positive note, have about 400 rounds though the gun and decided to give it a quick cleaning, and there was nothing but a few brass shavings to clean. Literally a blast of air, one wet patch and one dry patch.

The gun is too fun, I’m going to find a subsonic load that will print 1” at 25 yards.

that was a sweet looking pistol ,glad all is good so far. might save some time to dial it in with the can on it.

True, but best case the can is probably months away. Although, they did have one in the case there, so maybe could buy and shoot while waiting.
