Dorian

@BatteryOaksBilly @Geezer @Rob and any others on the coast, ya'll stay safe, keep us updated. Light rain and getting breezy here in Cumberland Co.
Many thanks for all the posts, texts, calls, and PM's from those asking about us here on the coast. It means a lot.

Well @Geezer maybe this whole storm thing will make you come to your senses and move back up to the hills. :p

Hope nothing too bad comes your way down there.

Tornado just jumped over my house. Confirmed by emergency management, more on the way, fun stuff..

Tornado touched down in my neighborhood this morning...
About 600 yards away.
Took out a shed & some fencing.
Damaged trees and shingles but no one hurt.
I'm prepared for the he hurricane, tornado is a whole different game!

Where are you located, Rob?

I have some rain, and a little more wind, and a few things are hitting the roof....and it's getting kinda dark....
Should be an interesting evening. But I gots plenty of M&Ms, so I'll be fine.
Y'all nearer the water, be safe. We're praying for you.

2.12" here so far. I'm good with the rain, just hope the wind doesn't get too bad. I don't want anymore firewood cutting forced upon me.

No rain in the Lake Normanopolis area. Little sun, mostly clouds. Wind just picked up to 20mph gusts.

House looks good so far. Still getting some rain and a gust here and there. I am glad to be home. Didn't get much sleep while at the EOC.

Hope everyone else is doing/does good too.

TV is now saying Conway has gotten about 9 inches of rain. Some areas got more, some got less. They are calling them rain bands, it will pour for a while and then almost quit raining for a while. During these breaks is when the dog goes out. :)

We still have power but the wind is starting to pick up. Fingers crossed here that we will keep power but I won't be surprised if it goes out. All in all, we're doing fine here. I hope everyone else out there is as fortunate as we are here.

So far so good in Hoke County. Wind is definitely starting to kick, rain is pretty steady. Still have power but fully expect to lose it by bedtime. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

For now I'm having a nice cigar and not worrying much. There's very little control I have over the situation.

You guys along the NC coast stay safe up there. It was a non-event in my little part of the world.

Stay safe @Johnny and others.

Pender has had tornado watch after tornado watch.

My street is flooded.... before the thing even gets here....but I'm good.

DS

On a positive note, my pond is full. Bad part is my LMB will be swimming in the yard by morning.

Be safe, DS.

Transformers are popping around Lumberton..... we've still got power but it's blinked out twice in the last 30 minutes.

Intersection to my #2 son’s street is flooded in Wilmington, but he’s up here in Wake County. Son numero uno is with his girlfriend’s family in Hampstead. Same place he was last year with Florence, except right now they have power.

Meh, fake news... Or my math is crap...

EDIT: says 49k on the outage map now...

Does that include the electric co-ops? So far only something like 348 in Pender county on Duke. I’m still expecting to lose it here in the next few hours but it doesn’t look like it’s going to be as bad as even Matthew here right now.

Probably just Duke. 60k is probably right. Any opportunity to get a dig in on the news though...

Its a very informative site once you learn how to navigate the overlays and simulations. We used it quite a bit during Florance with the mess we had here with the Little River and Cape Fear cresting and causing the chaos it did. My only gripe is the simulations cover a limited area around the specific sensor your using. Easy enough to figure out by cross referencing county GIS flood maps, just takes longer.

Power is out and the wind is up here.

Four County Electric to the rescue!

The eye wall of Dorian came ashore at Cape Lookout about 15 minutes ago, but the center of rotation remains over water, on Lookout Shoals.
