Great quote.....

I do not oppose ‘conspiracy theories’ for the simple reason that conspiracies exist. MK-ULTRA and COINTELPRO were real. Iran-Contra happened. Enron was no figment of the imagination. I will go further and suggest that strange, conspiratorial events have yet to be exposed. I doubt that Libyans perpetrated the Lockerbie bombings. It would not surprise me if the Kremlin was involved in the bombings of the Moscow apartment blocks. I would not blame anyone for wondering if JFK’s assassination was not quite what history informs us. In its essential form, a conspiracy is a pair or a group of people engaged in covert behavior – which, as we generally understand the term, is malicious and illegal. On the level of the street this called organized crime. Anyone who doubts that this can transcend social classes has not been paying attention to history.

As I’ve get older I have realized that we have no clue of what really goes on anywhere. We are not as intelligent as we think we are. Most conspiracy theory’s have a lot of truth.

I forgot who said it. The shadow government is the danger, not elected people, we have people in high level government employment that are not elected and do not change when administrations. They are the real power of the government.

I don't think it's a matter of intelligence as much as it is being informed. But, I'll also say that, like the movie quote, most people can't handle the truth. Truth is touted as the end all, be all of solving all wrong. But, truth can have unintended consequences. The value of truth is how you respond nto it.

It’s a matter of perceived intelligence. Talk to a College educated 24 yr old with different views.

Geez....I talked to a 28 year old one today. I tried to point out that everywhere along the science history timeline, there were grave errors in the scientific thinking of the day that we now realize and take for granted. That fact should make scientists of today humble and recognize that we don't know everything, nor can we comprehend everything. She would let me get about 30 seconds of thought out before she would interrupt me with a counterpoint that had nothing to do with my point. I even made a comment about the drastic decrease in attention spans over the last 20 years, and she didn't get the hint.

Nice young woman. Girlfriend of a friend of mine. But, she couldn't listen and think before responding with her predetermined position. Oh, to be 28 and know everything again....

Have you not conspired as a child, with a friend, to perpetrate a rouse? It's not farfetched to extrapolate by age and complexity, the next great connivance.

(Saving that one to use in my book!)

As a child??? Lol. I had a few friends get together on a practical joke that had me in the crosshairs. I fell hook, line and sinker. They truly had me believing.

I used to love talking with those kinds. I had a long debate with a Psych prof at Duke outside the polling location during the 2008 election (I wroe in Ron Paul, but worked the campaign for BJ in his run against David Price).

She was astounded that some guy who sold insurance knew ANYTHING about monetary theory, much less was able to challenge Keynesianism. She was frustrated when I pointed out to her that she was simply a statist totalitarian, and asked her why she was against entrusting the elites at the state dept to conduct war while being for elites at Treasury and the Central Banks to sweep money into the gaping mouth of the Pentagon, and engage in corporate welfare.

She DID admit that she had prejudged me as an uninformed and reactionary rube and "Fox News idiot" but then said that me being informed in my opinion made me "more dangerous." I countered that being in an ideological bubble and being completely IGNORANT of the criticisms about my position and their weaknesses would be what would make me dangerous. She was silent for a moment and I asked her if she had a compact mirror in her purse. She said "no, sorry" and I said "pity." She got kind of a sour expression and quit talking to me.
