So, as many of you know, I am going thru more than one family crisis...

During this time,
I have made multiple deposits to BB&T ATM’s.
Twice, at two separate BB&T ATM’s,
and in two different states,
The deposit count was WRONG!!!

These were the new “smart” ATM’s,
that just count the money, no envelope or deposit slip needed.
Once was off by $100, the other by $20.

The whole reason these machines exist is to deposit or retrieve exact amounts of cash, without any human errors...

Count and double count your cash deposits, and if the displayed amount is different cancel the transaction.

What a bunch of shady, dishonest, greedy buttholes!

Had this happen to me once here in kernersville. Input $1600 cash and it says it was $1480

Tried it again after it gave me the cash back and it was $1340

Took me a minute to figure it out.

Machine only counts up to 40 bills after the 40th bill it won’t count the extra bills and it won’t give the extra bills back unless you decline the deposit.

Not sure what happens if you accept the deposit. Maybe it deposits the correct amount or maybe it just keeps the money. If you don’t get a receipt I guess it’s you vs the other 100s of people who use the machine to determine how much extra was yours.

I wouldn’t put my faith in bb&t to work with you on this problem.

ATMs mess up sometime
If you think it's messed up, contact the bank and give them your information

Pulled a hundred out of an ATM once and it gave me 80
I always keep the money in view of the camera when at the ATM and count before I drive off.
So I saw I was short 20 and went in to the bank and told them. They did nothing for me then, but took my info
A day later I got a call - they counted down the machine that night and, what do you know, it had 20 too much.

The banks will take care of you as long as you let them know it was you.
But, yeah, machines make errors. Sucks, but it happens

In a former life I worked on the hardware and software used in the most common bank note dispensers. The software is designed to always default to the banks favor in the case of a jam or note fault.

Funny story....

The notes are pre loaded into cassettes.
Multiple Cassettes of varying denominations are inserted into machine.
One day, the customer called to report that a recently fully loaded machine was sending low/empty messages within 24hrs.
I went to the site and had a look.
Folks were lined up in front of it.

The responsible party had loaded $20 Bill's into the $5 bill cassettes.
It was a very popular machine during that time!

The machine checks all the physical characteristics of each note on the dispensing side, but it assumes the denomination is what the cassette is coded for. This is done for speed of handling and for cost savings.

Adding insult to injury, they paid me for an expensive service call.

We have enough potential problems with vendors who only do direct deposit.
I go inside and work with tellers who know me by name.
No online banking.
No ATMs.

[I wish we could do No BBT...]

BB&T is a joke, I won’t do any kind of business with them. My house was broken into several years ago and I had 4 check books stolen. Called the 1800 number after branch hours and told them what happened and asked what would be the best option for making sure no money was spent out of all the checks. They told me to close the account and open a new one. I checked my account the next morning before the branches open and they had tried to charge me for cancelling every check I had. I flipped my lid and closed the accounts as soon as they opened the doors. I have been dealing with secu since then and never had a single problem.

Don’t worry. BB&T will be going away soon. Reincarnated into a new bank..... Truist. Merging with Suntrust. Supposedly will be the 6th largest in the nation once it’s all said and done.

I ve banked with bbt for many many years. Never had a single problem. I made a call to their call center on a sunday and got an american woman in North Carolina. Try that with any other bank and see what happens. I would never make a cash deposit to a machine just like I would never send cash in the mail.

Another reason to be glad I dropped Suntrust for First Citizens year’s ago.

Isn’t BB&T what the spray on skeeters? Didn’t know it was a bank too.

Butter Beans & Taters...and don’t you forget it...

At least until we become Truist....
