34 citizens shot and six were killed this past Chicago weekend, one 17 yr girl was shot in the
head and body multiple times.

The city with some of the strongest gun laws on the books continues to see higher deaths from violence.

and nothing will be said about it in the media (mostly, obviously stuff is reported, but this will pale in comparison to two or three at a walmart or something later)

Its actually true the vast majority of those guns are illegal and acquired from other states.

Is there any proof of that claim other than media and politicians claims? And if they know the guns are from other states and have that level of information why don’t they stop it? If they know they are from other states they must know what states and how they are getting there. And why isn’t this strange state to state black market happening elsewhere? Why aren’t bad people in Boston getting guns from NH and killing 5 people every weekend while wounding 30? Or bad people in Seattle getting guns from evil rednecks in Idaho? Why are Chicago south siders the only criminals smart enough to buy guns across state lines? Someone should dig into all this. Seems like a strange phenomenon that if solved could save lives and lots of pain and suffering. Surely the Dems from Chicago and particularly luminaries like Mr. and Mrs. Obama could solve these mysteries easily. They have money, clout and degrees from awesome colleges. This should be an easy one. I look forward to their successful campaign and the Nobel Prize they will actually have earned afterward.

Because its gang related. The vast majority of those shot and killed are in "the game" so it doesn't make news. No comparison to random ass people getting shot en mass by some loser while shopping at the local store.

Just goes to show the lefts gun laws are bullshi*
Actually their laws would make a difference if every other state had the same laws but since they dont its ineffective. The problem with the thought of making so many restrictive laws is they create a false sense of security since there will always be people who break the laws.

Plenty of info available online if you choose to research it. Most come from Indiana. Happens in Boston too but then market isnt as hot for illegal guns as it is in Chicago which probably has more gangs per square mile than any other city in the country.
A lot of the illegal guns in the NE like NJ, NYC, MA, etc come from Virginia which has lax laws compared to states located north of it. They dont see as many handguns come from NC because of our permitting requirement. Virginia and many other states don't have that.

I agree that more needs to be done and can be done. I've seen videos of gun shows in places like Indiana where there are illegal dealers set up selling dozens of guns in a day. That's easy to stop IF you truly want to stop it since it's pretty easy to differentiate those folks selling off a few personal items from those that are clearly selling guns for profit without a license.

Also, it's not the gang members themselves going and buying the guns out of state. Its seemingly straight laced individuals who.are doing it and making a killing money wise in the process. A "clean" $400 used Glock can fetch $1k in Chicago so theres illegal dealers making good money to run those guns and the demand never ceases...and never will.

So if there are videos and evidence of illegal gun sales and interstate transactions why hasn’t the FBI stopped it? Surely Mr. Obama would have made this a priority in his 8 years in office. Did the FBI disobey his orders? With video evidence there should be lots of convictions and problem solved. Who didn’t or doesn't want to stop this?

Oh, so if we just banned guns everywhere life would be grand? Wow, that doesn’t sound like a gun owner. No guns, no crime? Guess you’ve already sold everything you own to set a good example?

Because they don't really want to stop the problem. While it makes me feel icky posting a Brady video this is an example of what I was talking about. Here's a private seller clearly operating as a dealer. We dont see that much here in NC as it's very rare to see private sellers rent a table. Its obviously profitable enough there that he didnt mind paying for the table. Can't find the video but saw another one where a husband and wife team rolled in with a stroller of at least a dozen guns they sold just like that guy while walking the aisles. Once those were gone they went back to their car and loaded up another dozen to sell. If the cops and other fed agents who attend these shows would actually do their job and enforce laws already on books to stop this stuff it would decrease the level of it occurring....at the shows at least.

Something else to consider is that in many states its totally different than NC in that long guns and handguns can be sold privately with nothing more than an ID....if the seller cares enough to check it. Let's be honest here and have some real convo. I know it sucks to say but we all know some people who will and have sold guns to people without caring about their ID, their background, etc. I've witnessed it first hand many times. It's those people that are bringing heat to gun shows, private sales, and l other things which affect lawful gun owners. Gun owners can be our own worst enemy at times.

Of course not. In a perfect world we could snap a finger and make them all disappear and turn bad people to good at the same time. Since we live in an imperfect world that solution wont work.

Who is ‘they’? That don’t want this problem solved? Are you saying Obama and his entire administration, plus the DOJ and FBI don’t didn’t want the problem solved? And that would make that true for Carter, Reagan, the Bush’s and Trump. Why not? I am baffled. And if all of our elected officials and government agencies are so evil and corrupt how would passing more laws for them to ignore help solve the problem?

If they would come down hard on the perps when caught, it wouldn't matter where the guns were coming from. But, just like everywhere else, they just keep releasing habitual thugs back on the street and expect them to not reoffend. Just look at our local news, the majority of the people causing the problems have a record a mile long.

Agree, catch, plea deal and early release.
Serve months not years and concurrent sentences.

Ok, let’s have a serious conversation.

I say NO. I say get the Feds out of what should, and used to be, a private transaction for personal property between citizens. No stinking permits. No NICS. Not one bit of it. It’s all an infringement and just because govt. tyrants player word salad games and declared that it wasn’t because they wanted to grab power said it’s a regulation, not an infringement doesn’t make it so. Freedom, it’s a scary concept.

Couple this with like @SPST said and focus on the horses, not the barn door.

Chiraq does not have a gun problem, it has a gang problem...and I am certain the weekly/weekend deaths and wounded reported only scratch the surface.

Nothing @Wahoo95 ? Who is this ‘they’ that want the violence in Chicago to continue? Seems like it would have to be a vast conspiracy.

Govt.....come on dude you're a member here just like I am so youre privy to all the same discussions we all take part in. It doesnt matter whether their name is followed by a D or an R it's all the same and if you dont understand that I'm not sure how to help you. Have you gotten so caught up in partisanship that you actually believe one side is truly 2A friendly???

So you are saying that both parties in government have conspired to allow illegal gun sales leading to all the violence in Chicago? And all the relevant departments in the government and all those employees. It sure seems like there would have been at least one whistleblower in all these years and across administrations from both parties. Just one clean FBI agent, or Marshall or Federal Prosecutor. If that’s true then why do we vote and why do we even have a politics section on this forum?

I know it sucks to say but we all know some people who will and have sold guns to people without caring about their ID, their background, etc. I've witnessed it first hand many times.

Interesting.
But apparently not interesting enough to do anything about it.
