San Francisco brands NRA as domestic terrorist organization

Rebuttal from The Washington Post!

No, San Francisco. The NRA is not a ‘domestic terrorist organization.’

Liberals often wonder where conservatives get the notion that they are hated and despised. Wonder no more: Just look at the San Francisco Board of Supervisors’ resolution labeling the National Rifle Association a “domestic terrorist organization.”

Words matter, and there are few words that stigmatize a person faster than calling him or her a terrorist. A terrorist by definition is someone who engages in terrorism, and terrorism is defined as “the systematic use of violence to create a general climate of fear in a population and thereby to bring about a particular political objective.” To be a terrorist organization, therefore, the NRA would have to intentionally encourage and support the use of violent attacks on U.S. citizens with the intent of creating general fear so as to force submission to its political agenda.

The NRA clearly does not do that. It does not advocate, fund or support violence, nor does it try to create “a climate of fear” to advance its policies. It does support an expansive view of gun rights, but that is not a terrorist act — unless political disagreement is now a criminal offense.

The San Francisco resolution essentially declares that people who back the NRA cannot be a loyal opposition. It then seeks to reduce NRA support by saying that the city should try to “limit those entities who do business” with the city “from doing business with this domestic terrorist organization.” That arguably sets the power of a government against a set of citizens solely on the basis of their politics. This is called “viewpoint discrimination” in First Amendment law and is unconstitutional.

Time for a class action against the City and the Board of Supervisors for tarnishing the NRA and the membership.

Ok, that's what you think will happen... I don't disagree.
I’m not a betting man, I don’t risk my money lol but i’d Almost bet real money the NRA will have its case dismissed or lose.

I hope they win. I really do. This bs has got to stop or the powder keg is gonna eventually pop.

Depends on their will to fight. How far will they go on appeal?

It's funny, I've actually seen some sense out of the Ninth Circus lately. Would be hilarious for District court to side with SF and have the ruling struck down by the 9th.

I very nearly re-upped my membership when I first heard about this ridiculous garbage

I almost did myself, but then I thought about the calls and mail and spam and the shenanigans...

What new benefits do we get if we're members of the terrorist organization? I'm aware of the insurance benefits, and the wine club, and whatnot, but will the state be giving us heavy weapons to overthrow unfriendly governments? Will the SJWs start preaching that people have to accept our anti-uh-whatever we're against beliefs? Do we have to switch over to using AKs? Or... will they be giving us AKs?

Come on SF, give us the details!

If history be our guide, we can expect financial support, training, and arms from the cia

Op- Ed response to the "incompetent bureaucrats".

But the reason that the passage of this resolution cannot be taken lightly is not simply the fact that a good organization has been slandered. It also represents a glaring problem in modern American politics. Democratic politicians have abandoned any attempts to solve any real problems.

Instead, they seek only to scapegoat innocent targets in order to distract from their utter incompetence. In doing so, they cheapen evil, and lessen the gravity of real tragedy.

Being honest, I don't get any NRA calls except for election time to vote. I'm a Life Member.
I got one call years ago and asked them to take me off the list and they don't call me.

Me either. I too am a life member and if memory serves, I went online and opted out of being contacted.
