We have been working on getting a house ready to go up for sale and it has provided ample opportunity for our oldest to put in some hard work.
Yesterday I asked him if he wanted to learn how to operate a dump truck, he gave an enthusiastic yes. So I showed him the wheelbarrow and explained what he would be doing, he didnt find my humor funny. Having him tote them did slow down process some, I couldnt load them as big, they went moving as fast, but it was worth it.
After a long day if helping and a livestock meeting last night he was wore out.

Ah, yes. The ol’ manual dump truck.

Teaches the value of manual labor. Manual skills in general. Want to learn? Here’s the manual excavator (shovel), try the manual grader (dirt rake) or maybe the manual forklift (lift with your knees!!)

I currently am subbing with/for a grading company as a builder. On occasion I help out with the dirt side. It’s fun making the young fellas run the manuals, when they think they are God’s gift to equipment lol. This company has done well with its hiring. They are all good kids. Yet...

I’ve killed off egos from a few of their 20ish year olds when I ran circles around them as a short, fat 35 year old:D:p running without diesel, shows how privileged we are to get to use equipment that does need fuel:cool:

BWAAAHAHAHA! I did :D
Good work! We made our boys work hard outside, they're the most impressive men I know.

I was always sent to work with my grandfather, to stay out of trouble, at his grading and paving business. One summer when I was 8 or 9, I had the official title of "Root and Rock Foreman" on a particular grading job. I had a wheelbarrow and walked the site picking up roots and rocks.

It is good for them to learn things.
