NFA pic thread

I ordered my MK18 SBR today. I can’t wait to get it. What forward grip is that on yours? I like yours better than the one I ordered. Mine has the laser engraved logos on it.
Nice! Mine started as a stripped MK18 upper which is why it does not have the etching, just a small "Daniel Defense" near the handguard. The forward grip is a Tango Down Stubby - in my opinion they are the best!

I am hoping the weather cooperates and I can get it out and shoot it next week. That is providing the e-form 3 clears fast.

I really like your setup! I might put my PEQ on mine, but I really like the EOTech on yours. I was thinking Aimpoint or MRO but yours has about changed my mind.

@patina - did you come out better than the $799 price they had in their ad?
So here’s the story... apparently Gander sent out a coupon to certain markets that was 20% off any single item (guns included) and they cover the tax.

https://go.ganderoutdoors.com/clearance-20/

Someone posted online that their store honored it even thought that location wasn’t on “the list”. So I said what the heck and gave it a shot. I walked back to the gun counter and asked if they were honoring the Labor Day coupon and the guy working said no. Then he said I was welcome to ask his manager about it so I said sure. Manager walked up and said they weren’t honoring it... oh well... then he asked what I wanted to buy with it. I told him the FNX-45 Tactical and he goes “OK I’ll approve it”.

I was stunned... so was the guy behind the counter. No idea what his motivation was and I wasn’t going to ask. Long story short...

I didn’t ask any questions and walked out of the store with a HUGE smile on my face. Still can’t believe it!

I wish you were a little closer you would be welcome to run it and see what you think!

I have an astigmatism and the red dots are very difficult for me to focus on, the dots are blurry and look like a starburst. For whatever reason the Eotech isn’t as bad (with prescription glasses). I love the compact package!

I have an astigmatism too. I have never ran an EOTech on anything, but it looks good on the Mk18. It usually is just a couple days on the e-form 3, so it should ship next week at the latest. I have a buddy with an XPS 3.0 in tan, I may try it out and see how it does for me. Thank you

Not quite as good as patina's deal but dang close, $634.41 OTD, the last one in stock. It was in the display case so its been fingered but at this price I don't care. I appreciate the kick start patina because I don't think I would have chased it down without your post regarding the discount.

AAC Ti-Rant 45 is a dealer demo can I paid $300 for last year.

Hell yea!!! That's awesome! Which location did you pick it up from?

The store in North Charleston, SC.

I stopped in on the way home from work and the clerk said they had two left, one being the display gun, he said they would apply the discount too. Headed home to convince the wife I needed this and she agreed so off we go. Upon arrival the same clerk discovered he was mistaken and they only had the display piece remaining, the rest is history.

Another factor was the cost of buying a couple of threaded barrels for pistols I own in order to mount the can. I figure it was going to cost me north of $400 to outfit a Glock 20 & Colt 1911 with quality barrels (add more $'s for upgraded sights) so the FNX 45 at this price made sense.

Again thanks for your post as it was the reason I got off my ass and grabbed this.

You didn’t ask questions, but I have a two. :p

1. You mention they cover the tax, then there’s tax on the receipt?
2. What’s the deal with the cash amount you paid? Seems like wanting $70.27 back seems odd...

They originally rang me up at $669.xx. I realized the coupon also covered tax ($42.xx if I remember correctly) so I decided to push my luck and ask if they could refund that(if they said no I would have been just as happy but figured I had to ask since the manager said he’d honor the coupon). About 10 minutes later after cursing the register a few times and referencing the “Labor Day sale walkthrough” the cashier handed me $70.27 back in cash... I didn’t ask any questions.

Not really sure where else to put these. I’ve posted this pic before:

Ever since I added the Kryptek SplitFix, I’ve wanted to do a pattern on the silencer just to break up the solid grey. I ordered a stencil, the guy sent two, and I destroyed both trying to get them on the tube.

Ran across this pic in Cerakote’s gallery:

4E60267D-2E22-4866-9AD5-E04C0BE91954.jpeg

And contacted the people that did it. They quoted me $100 to spray black over my grey and no warranty. $150 to strip it down and spray both colors, with warranty. So...I passed.

Figured I’d give something a shot today, and if it didn’t work out I could just spray it one color again. Free-handed some shapes in painters tape:

Sprayed it all with black grill paint (the grey is 2000° primer):

Result are meh...but once it’s back under the rail, it’s not too bad. I’ll probably leave it for awhile.

A purgatory Dead Air Wolfman on my first stamp, an Uzi SBR. I'm blown away by how quiet the whole thing is. I haven't tried it with the wipe (and probably won't until it's been released to me) but as is, I think it's a little quieter than the full length Rugged Obsidian 9.

How'd the F1 solvent traps work?
Ended up not shooting them for a couple random reasons. Spent time shooting some of the other stuff instead. He has three more in hand for a recore (going with serviceable stacks on these), plus the two 1.25x6.5 F1 cans that he has now to remove one spacer and add a baffle...something I should’ve had him do the first time.

When all that gets back in another week or two, I think @patina and are going to meet up for the first time and shoot all of them. Be nice to have somebody else to give an opinion from both the observer and shooter positions.

Really love this combo. I've also got an Uzi SBR . I'll be curious to hear how the wipes work out.

Made a couple changes to the 15-22 SBR.

Bought another factory handguard. Cut it down so it was longer than the one I had. (Removed two of the holes in the old one, only one on the new). The rail was the pink camo version when I got it. Also swapped the AFG2 for a Magpul XTM handstop. It was gray, so I went ahead and attached it then sprayed it when I sprayed the rail again. Installed the newish handguard and then the F1 can (instead of the Spectre) that I just got back after some tweaks by ECCO. Hopefully makes it to the range on Tuesday for a test run (maiden voyage for the silencer).

Since this thread isn’t real active...here’s a 4-stamp pic. Getting a couple things ready for a range trip on Friday.

One of the benefits of short barrels and red dots...I can almost always get two firearms in each rifle case. :D
