Becoming the "man with one gun"...

I always claimed letting go of just one was to painful but when my dad passed I sold a few to help my mom with the debt she incurred hospital bill, funeral, and the like and it was easy or so I thought,
So I decided the time was right to downsize, the first Colt revoler I put up on Armslist, for less than I had in it , I was so inundated with low ball offers that I became aggravated and took it down, and now have reverted to hold what I got mode,

Anybody else making an effort to simplify?

Yes; have been for quite a while and for several reasons.

Aside from rimfire....

Semi rifles are the same platform and chambered for the same cartridge...5.56.

Bolt rifles are .308

Shotguns are all 12ga.

Handguns are same model and chambered in 9mm. Spare parts/magazines...same.

Rimfire rifles are all .22LR and some of them will handle .22S/L.

Ones that have been passed down/given to me are staying.

Reasons:

- Common calibers...find ammo just about anywhere. Makes stocking up on ammo and reloading components much easier. More ammo for stashing and practicing.

- Common platforms/models...maintenance, parts interchange, spare parts supply simplified. I can toss a rifle or pistol magazine to those here with me and it will work in what they’re running.

- Debt-free...that’s the goal and we intend to meet it as soon as possible. All the vehicles are paid for and should have the house done before I retire (7 years). Cut cable, rarely eat out, do most of the maintenance on vehicles, house and appliances...saves a bunch.
