I have been following this issue on another forum and thought it may be prudent to pass the info along to this forums NFA section.

Cliff Notes version: BATF made a policy change in early 2019 where they would no longer accept certain DocuSign fonts/formats as legal signatures. Unfortunately it appears they did not exempt/Grandfather forms in process prior to this policy change in addition to not providing examiners with clear guidance on how to resolve this clerical issue. Some examiners will accept the DocuSign signatures, others will send a correction letter, while some will just flat out deny the application. The correction letters are a 2-3 week delay whereas the denials are a you must start the process completely over again! Denials are becoming more frequent. It appears to be occurring with Silencer Shop From 4's submitted from Sept'18 to early 2019.

With ~60% of Form-4's coming in via Silencer Shop this could become a larger issue potentially impacting a lot of people. I have a Dead Air SandmanTi purchased through Silencer Shop with a Nov 14th 2018 check cashed date.

Today a new thread popped up and Silencer Shop made an account on the forum today to address it. Tis is their first public statement on the ongoing issue:

We are sorry to hear about your conversation with the BAFTE. Unfortunately, not all information was shared with you and some is inaccurate.

  1. Digital signatures are supported by the BAFTE. Some formats are considered unsupported by BATFE, but are legal and valid everywhere else.
  2. Normally, the BATFE would submit an error correction letter instead of a disapproval, and in this case, that is not what happened.
  3. The vast majority of applications are not impacted by this issue and are being approved as fast as the NFA branch can.
  4. We share in your frustration and value the trust you place in us, as it is paramount! We have already submitted a formal appeal to the ATF in addition to re-submitting all denied forms.
  5. This is a great example of why an excess of 60% of F4 applicants use Silencer Shop. We have a dedicated compliance team, lawyers, and lobbyists all fighting to make sure your second amendment rights are protected. Period.
As updates are available, we will keep you informed. If you ever need anything, you may always contact us directly. We are here to help!

Sincerely,

Your Silencer Shop Compliance Team

Of course I have a Form 4 for my SBS that was thru SiShop in September with check cashed in late October. Not sure if I need to call the ATF to check on it or not.
