So Springfield Armory's big announcement is for a micro compact carry pistol with 11+1 capacity in a flush fit mag. Looks interesting, wonder how it will measure up to the 365.

They are hyping the reliability of it big time. Hope it does well, Im a big Springfield fan but I do love my 365.

Seems they’ve taken precise aim at Sig. Some smart moves were including the 13 round mag together with the 11 and both baseplates. Also, the standard rail will appeal. Interesting offering.

I'm definitely in on this one!
Gonna call LGSs today to see if I can find one willing to take my $$ and get me on a list for 1st batch delivered.

Looks very interesting. Especially that the irons are usable with that dot mounted. I was not familiar with that dot.

Maybe could replace my Sig 938 and my Springfield EMP9 both.

Areddddddfff you sure you want to be a guinea pig tester?
I'm never scared of new stuff, I just won't trust it!
It won't go in my holster until it proves itself.
Usually have a pretty good feel by 400-500 rounds
At 750, I'll start to trust it
Then, after 150-200 more of hard fast shooting to really heat it up....
It will be welcome in the holster!

When SA came out with the XDS it had a recall or two. I would wait.

It looks like the British-made Red dot sight called the Shield.

I did read on another site where someone preordered the OSP version for $499. $100 off retail out of the gate isn't too bad, curious to see where the selling prices finally settle in.
16% discount on da new whore???? Must have the clap...…………..

No but every purchase comes with a free promise for more gun control in Springfield's home state of Illinois.

I see that I'm not the only one that remembers this.

As I remember Sig’s hype around the P365, they began with the magazine, patented the design and then built the gun around it. Now, SA claims their magazine design is also patented. I’d be interested to know what was patentable about the two designs and how they differ.

Imagine the marketing crew at S&W as they scramble to prepare their high capacity sub compact which will be the last one to hit the market. Little wonder the CEO’s pay raise request was rejected. o_O

At $499 with optic cut, these will sell. For Sig enthusiasts, this is good news, but only if Sig ups their game with a P365 RX model in a similar price range. If the SA model doesn't have the growing pains the 365 had, Sig will feel the pressure.

I personally dislike the balance (or lack of) and high bore axis of SA polymers. If Walther redesigns their PPS mags, they very well could make a bigger splash in this market.

My boss carries an XDS and he asked me about the Hellcat this morning, I haven’t been paying attention to the gun market so I didn’t know about this one until this morning.

After watching a few videos I’m definitely intrigued and will keep an eye out for a chance to handle and shoot one.

I honestly can’t fathom why SA went with the optic patterns they did on the optic ready version though, I’m sure someone will release an optics adaptor soon enough and Apex is probably half way through R&D on a new trigger system lol.

For a $30 msrp difference, why not just get the optic ready version?

I’m definitely interested. I really liked my Xd and XDm. While I am all M&P for poly guns, the shield doesn’t share mags so no big deal to expand with a new SA.

I’m cheap so I’ll be holding out to see what PSA offers them for.

Please disregard everything I said 18 comments ago...
I was at LGS today intending to order (preorder) a Hellcat...
Until, the associate showed me his personal P365XL !
With the Romeo zero coming out at the "end of the month" this is my next/new EDC.

Did you happen to get to the point of being told what the preorder price was going to be?

I have one on order. As I see it the only reason to go without optic cut is top serrations on the slide. But with rackable rear sights I think it’s kind of unnecessary. Sig has announced the Romeo Zero with same mounting pattern of the shield rms to ship in the next couple months. And with a msrp of less than $300 (optics planet has it listed for $199) as long as the entire optic’s footprint isn’t larger than the rmsc it’ll have a home on this slide. Plan to get a crossbreed reckoning until n82 offers their revenant, or t1c or trex offer a kydex sidecar solution. So far my biggest concerns are magazine availability, recoil management, and holster availability. So far only see options offered by crossbreed and aliengear. The aliengear holsters are just too bulky for a little guy like me. (5’8 160lb).

To address above member concerns.

Grip zone is gone. Has tiny pyramid stippling on grip.

Flat face trigger looks similar to apex style not prp

Shield/rms/jpoint and romeoZero all have rear sight notch to allow full cowitness or complete removal of rear sight.

Once I get it in hand I’ll try to run a box or two of Outdoor Dynamics through it as well as my hand loads and give an update on reliability/failures. Don’t have the funds to run more than 50 or so rounds of critical duty through it. But will have to do so before I can trust to carry it full time.
