Flew in a B-17 this morning.

I've been in Nine 0 Nine.... RIP to all the people who've lost their lives.

The planes that are flying to the air shows are feverishly maintained. I would say it was a freak accident and not neglected Maintenance.

I read that witnesses said at least one engine wasn't running, which should have been manageable given the B-17 performance envelope. Unless they didn't feather the prop on the dead mill or had some other issues, perhaps losing all power- we'll have to wait for more details. My father maintained these in WW2, and they had incredible ability to keep flying with significant damage, yet still an airplane with a need for airspeed in the end.

Very sad for those killed and injured.
