I'm looking for help identifying the outdoor range options near Cabarrus county.

Background: I joined Rowan County Wildlife Association about 8 years ago and loved going out there. Then in 2017 I think it was, I missed the dues renewal letter from the treasurer. The next time I went out there, my keycard wouldn't open the gate, so I contacted the lady and she said that there was a waiting list to get into the club so my membership was cancelled and that I could get on the waiting list. Unfortunately, I wasn't given any information on how long the list might be, how many people might be ahead of me, or anything else for that matter. I sent in the letter asking to be on the waiting list and enclosed a check for my back dues just as a goodwill offer and then got a very curt letter back saying that I needed to re-read the policy on missing dues and being kicked out.

So, with all that being said... It doesn't look like my chances of getting back into RCWA are very high.

What are the other options for outdoor ranges near Cabarrus county? For those ranges that are private and require some sort of member sponsorship of new applicants, is anyone willing to vouch for me?

Thanks in advance...

They’re definitely strict on their dates. I moved last year and didn’t think to change my address with them. Luckily I remembered with a day left in the late period so was able to get a check out with the right postmark on the envelope.

That's odd. Maybe thing have changed, but it used to be if you paid the back dues plus the fine, you got back in. I do know they had to cap the membership (not sure why) a couple of years ago and were weeding out the non-payers to let new ones in. Did you reapply?

Understand there are rules in place, however they could have a second notice mailed,
emailed or a phone call that you are in arrears to get reinstated and add a small fee for this feature.

I did everything the Treasurer told me to do. I never heard back after that, so I'm thinking that it's a lost cause.

I was fully prepared to do just that, but it seems that the private club's policies have changed in such a way that the leadership doesn't mind losing long-standing members to bring in new people.

For the record, I'm really not trying to make this about RCWA. Since it seems that my chances of getting my membership restored are somewhere between slim and none, I'd rather focus on finding a new place to take my family to shoot.

I appreciate the suggestion of PHA. It looks like a welcoming group and I'll be driving up to their next monthly membership meeting in Lexington to meet folks.

Did you submit another application to gain membership?

I followed the directions I received from the Treasurer, but did not receive any further response. My assumption is that the paperwork was received and processed as necessary to put me back in the waiting line.
