Video: Handgun disarms, a reality check

Waste of my time.

In my area, all the BG’s carry Glocks or Hi Points.

I think that does show that it is worth a try if you think you are done for anyway. Most bad guys probably don’t have the reaction time on the trigger that those guys do so that plus _any_ distraction would make it worth a try.

I also noticed that even when he evaded, only once I think did he get the slide out of battery in time to keep the round from being fired.

Get 'em talkin'...
Yep, I've done multiple classes on this. Move your hands, move your arms, move your feet, start running your mouth, etc... if they'll let you move your torso, the fight is on...
It comes down to distance x perception x reaction time vs your technique.
If you want a good test, do this in a car. That's when your cardio and gorilla skills come in ! And/or a nice clinchpik/kerambit !!

But, good video ! It shows you how fast some of these techniques can go. Props to the shooter; he kept his trigger finger in the fight. I will not keep my finger in there for retention training stuff, I've seen way too many hurt really bad. The trigger and trigger guard become a lever on a really tender/fragile part of your body.

Yep, when we use the rubber guns, we cut the bottom of the trigger guard so your finger slides through there. The disarms we do would break/rip that trigger finger big-time.
