2019 Competitive Shooting Goals

Update...just walked off the gun range. After having knee surgery a few weeks ago and being forced to take a break...so...I really limped off the gun range...I shot and completed my goal for the year.
Final round count...
35,007 for the year.
Boom. Achievement unlocked.

Didnt even do one match.
Sorry, but I had zero interest in the PHA tactical matches when they made it less about accuracy and more about playing dress up and 'mutant' classes and other BS. Thanks a lot Gene.

I was able to shoot Expert class in *unofficial* classifiers (meaning I ran myself) for both ESP and CDP divisions (single stack 1911’s in 9mm, and 45, respectively) ...but not consistently, and thus I am still officially classified as SS. I was pleased however that I could actually shoot them both clean with respectable times.

That said, the recent church shooting in TX reminds me that as good as think I shoot my wee Glock EDC, it can’t match Jack Wilson’s shot that morning, so I will devote more of my shooting time to practice, and maybe even some training, with my EDC’s.

Shoot more alphas by staying with the sights until the shot breaks.
I really just had the one goal.
I still shoot more Charlies than probably anyone on the range, but I'm doing it faster. The Ds have declined, Ms, and NSs becoming a rarity. Still it's a fail.

Took a class in mid December. Got some good criticism. Now if I'll just practice.

1. Make Master in Production. This year I'm going to treat the classifier like any other stage. Also, I'm going to forego checking up on my classification. I'm just going to go shoot, and when the M card comes in the mail...I'll know then.

2. Increase movement speed between shots. Now that I've changed guns and some of my lingering nerve issues have been dealt with, I'm free just to concentrate on pushing hard every time my legs need to move.

3. Shoot 35,000 rounds. I just shot my 30,000th round in practice on 12/20. This is a doable goal, I just have to get to work making bullets.

4. Cast 40,000 bullets in Castageddon before the end of January. This might be the hardest goal for the year.

1. I did this...but to my knowledge did not make Master. And...I don't really care anymore. I'm more interested in overall match performance.

2. I did this...hard...until I tore the meniscus. So...I over-accomplished here.

3. Yes...done did it.

4. Yes...done did it.

I had a painful shooting year...but a successful one.

Will shoot SWGC, RPS and CGGR as my monthly matches. Will shoot SC State and NC State as my majors. Goals - Top 5 in Limited at local matches. Win B class at SC State. Earn the match bump to A class. Top 10 in A class at NC State.
Maintain Dryfire routine of 5 days a week, 20 min a session. Start and maintain a consistent live fire routine. Will be scheduling a class with @GByerly .
Quick update
Made A class before SC State.
Finished 6/8 Limited A at SC State.
Will be adding Tennessee Atomic Blast to match schedule.

Hit them all.

End of the year my match placements tailed off as I began to rework how I shoot. It’s a work in progress.

My main goal for '19 is NOT to bury myself with side hustle like I did this year, so that I can:

Commit to and maintain a consistent daily dry-fire practice schedule. No excuses.
Commit to and maintain a consistent weekly live-fire practice schedule. No excuses.
Attending every monthly match at my home range is another goal, however, this is still affected by my work and mostly out of my control.

Made the time available and still just plain failed on the first two.
Was able to make it to 4 matches.
Self-image? Pitiful

Didn't hit the mark in 2018, so 2019's will again be to take the best shooting sports pictures that are being shared on the internet. I've been spending some time at the range with the AR lately and finally got around to ordering a D-60 for it. I guess if I had a shooting goal it would be to shoot the Sir Walter Rifle match in 2019 with some friends. I would like to find a class geared toward that side of the competitive shooting world and learn some of the fundamentals as well.

Didn’t make a Carbine match at Sir Walter, but did shoot a USPSA match with a PCC. Also, I didn’t take a class or really think about shooting all year long. The photography growth has stalled since I stopped posting full albums to Facebook but I wouldn’t say last year was a failure. I met a lot of really good people and hopefully made some new competitive shooting friends!
