Supporting institutional demands for compliance via government agencies is bad. It is very bad. You may be "for" it because you have swallowed some amazingly dishonest propaganda (and it is utterly and unscrupulously dishonest), latching on to lies about how vaccines have created a "herd immunity" (an utter and complete lie) or how they have wiped out measles (another lie)..., but even if these fabrications were true (they are not), they pave the way for this, which is a potential nuclear bomb in public health discourse.

Look at the very first example of this. The much-ballyhooed mosquito eradication experiment with dna sequencing/splicing has actually bred a monster mosquito in Brazil that is HARDER TO KILL. The only thing it did was "breed" giant profits for irresponsible and reckless "science sluts" which are r/d companies that try to cozy up to the state for grants and programs... which is a verbatim description of all of the big pharma companies in the USA... welfare sluts in lab coats. You need to pull out your copy of Jurassic Park and read it again, only this time the villains are not the filthy capitalists, but the state with its coffers of money and dripping honeyed promises to protect you.

Almost everything about the vaccine industry is a lie. Just one more group of welfare whores who want to use government force to make you buy their product.

Yes, vaccines are a hoax concocted by Big Pharma.

On an unrelated topic, does anyone know why polio is no longer found in the U.S. and smallpox infections have disappeared worldwide?
No one said vaccines themselves are a hoax.

Still pissed off about failing that freshman logic class, are we?

I am sure it is big pharma which deserves the credit........ Philippines also had zero polio cases. Just like the USA.....

https://apnews.com/d954ca949bf34124bc980d4e2f732b16

"WHO and UNICEF said in a joint statement the polio outbreak in the Philippines is concerning because it is caused by vaccine-derived poliovirus type 2."

you make it too easy

And for the record... smallpox has not been eradicated. There was an outbreak in the US in 2003. 47 cases. All of which had received the smallpox vaccine.

Wrong. That was Monkeypox.

Same family, just not variola. This is a great illustration though of why viral vaccines are GOOD, but neither the "we did it, we killed that one" solution NOR should they be an eternal source of $$$ for forced gov programs. Viral reproduction being the out of control assembly line RNA mess it is, it is just a matter of time before viral reproduction leads to some bad bad mistakes

Again, the original article was on the latest push by pharma to do exactly that, which is go DNA splicing as a prophylactic cure for flu. This will lead to wonderful buckets of cash for the grant recipients, and possibly results as wonderful as those of the anopheles project in Brazil.... as well as memes to mock the unscientific rubes who fear medical progress and resist such spectacular results.

Just the result of my luddite-ism, I guess.

Okay next time I get a cold I'm going to pick any random virus from the same family... and go scare the beans out of everyone. Thanks for the tip; I always wanted to be taken seriously by people.

For the record, the genetic sequence shows 94% (approx) identity between the two, and the official surmise is that they belong to the same family, with monkeypox not being a derivative, but rather a family member of the smallpox virus, variola being a variant.

https://reader.elsevier.com/reader/...E6FE5E25E43117C7A5FB40031FB300E5DA010A234692B

It is a linguistic, not a scientific debate. "Monkeypox" is in fact a smallpox variant, with the viral components showing a common origin.

It is interesting that the cry for a "smallpox vaccine" variant to deal with the possibility of monkeypox was the actual grant money research request. I can pull that up for you if you wish.

If you wish to narrow your claim to assert that variola has been effectively eradicated, I have no complaints with that. It is a narrow claim, though, and one which is facing the probability of being short lived, should the desire to expand the effectiveness of a single vaccine see funding. THAT is the point here.

FFS. That's a lot of words to move the goalposts. Would have been easier to just edit your previous statement.

Can you at least admit your only purpose here is to stir the pot? Not inform? Can you commit to making threads simply for entertainment purposes and refrain from any pseudoscience? That goes for the genetic intelligence thread too (not yours, admittedly).

For the record... I DO enjoy baiting the "flash and strike" crowd here. I do enjoy linking this stuff to attacks on the vaccinology religion because the two are joined at the hip. The catechism here is that all vaccines good, luddite anti scientists are pro measles and want diptheria, and Merck is our messiah. I believe that they are simply one more outfit which has been utterly corrupted by the sluice flow of money and are rather now the largest recipient of government welfare. Moreover they are utter liars who suppress data, lie about data, and seek to impose programs to enhance their profit margins with little to no regard for the harm they are doing. This riles up people, just like attacking cops or the military or any other public entity brings forth howls of outrage over noble minded good people in its midst.

That said, this stuff about flu vaccines moving to recombinant DNA has such disastrous possibilities that it could easily make smallpox, the black death, or Spanish flu look like the three day cold in comparison..... and there is NO evidence of credible risk/reward analysis. The rather hysterical responses about "anti vaxxers" and the refusal to actually LOOK at credible scientific critiques is evidence to me that no safeguards are even being contemplated. I have a list of 100s documented, peer reviewed pubs in accepted scientific journals which question almost basic assertion of the effectiveness and safety of the current vaccination regime. The "rebuttals" to this are simply ad hominem attacks or arguments from authority... the latter means the kind of stuff you see in the climate change stuff.... "all the smart scientists agree with us."

Lol, except this isn't what you do at all. You claim aliens are building an advanced civilization in your ice cream and then call anyone who disagrees a luddite.

Monkeypox was a great example here, instead of owning your mistake / admitting to being misleading, you simply take the tangent in a different direction.

Just like a flat-earther, who can easily be proven wrong with any sundial, they will claim to be open to your sundial evidence but as soon as it's presented sundials become the conspiracy instead.

You waste more time typing than we do reading, FYI.

EDIT: Look... and I mean this from the bottom of my heart. Just present some real evidence if it's something you truly believe in. Don't get lumped in with those Facebook stay-at-home moms who tell people to put lavendar behind their ears for the flu (and send someone to the hospital). Everyone here on this website is better than that.

I agree, but...the earth is flat...

While I can respond to the insulting attempt at lumping me with those kinds of moms ( you have never seen me post that kind of stuff), I actually welcome the opportunity to respond with a reasoned and detailed response. I expect the normal "word salad tl/dr" from some, but will try and give you dispassionate and reasoned details on why I think there are problems with our current vaccine regime. I am leaving the house in 15 mins and need to shower and eat, but I will respond tomorrow a.m.

Good Lord.. now the problem is reading comprehension; I said DON'T get lumped in with those moms. Now I'm thinking I'm not gonna get that real evidence I requested.

Is this the same or different in the southern hemisphere?

Same since the earth turns the same all the time.

However, you need more elevation in the north pole and you need less in the south pole. Gravity pulls the boolits down farther in the nort, and not as much in the south.

Also you need more right windage above and below the equator since the boolits want to fall off the earth if you are shooting east to west. More left windage if you are shooting west to east.

Diseases are a chastisement from the Holy Father who is disappointed in our sinful ways. By creating treatments and vaccines for these diseases, we are attempting to thwart his Holy will, and moving only further from God's healing light.

Burn your insurance card. Spend more time in prayer.

It's a bit of a shame. @tanstaafl72555 has honest concerns about important topics. He also clearly does a lot of detailed research about the topics. His informed views might be very influential if he did not get so carried away in his presentation that he often comes across as ranting.

Every time this topic comes up I think of this Jimmy Kimmel Video. It cracks me up every time!

In addition to being married to a Veterinarian, I have a lot of friends who are medical doctors. They all vaccinate themselves as well as their kids. That’s a pretty clear message.

Beginning requested response @GeorgeBush . Rather than repackaging, I would suggest reading Jeremy Hammond

He has a series of three articles with extensive references which outline some of the objections to the vaccine industry. He is the author and owner of FOREIGN POLICY JOURNAL and is a pretty decent gumshoe and investigative journalist (he writes about a number of issues, not just vaccines.... a plus in my book).

Here are the three articles. I also posted the only "rebuttal" I could find, which is mostly a combo of ad hominmen and appeal to authority.

He has another article about the Wakefield debacle, which I am still reading.

There is no doubt that Tans is a relatively bright bulb. But you have hit on a point that most of us agree with. Sometimes it isn't the message, it is the package. How we say things are often just as important as what is said. You also have to know your audience. This is a gun forum. The vast majority of us are here because of a shared interest in firearms, the 2A, or the shooting sports. So to many of us topics such as this are like going into a shoe store and seeing electronics. It isn't that we don't like electronics, its just that's not what brought us to the store in the first place.

Years ago I went to a shooting match in Raleigh, was having an awesome time. Talking guns with people, shooting, and having a blast. This one guy found out that I worked for Bank of America (at that time) and proceeded to follow me around talking about banking. Why BoA was horrid, why the markets were going to crash, why the bank only had 5 years max left before it crashed...and on and on. Finally I had to look at him and say "Look, I appreciate what you are saying, but I came here to shoot guns and have a good time, not talk about work or how horrible my company is." The guy looked like I had kicked his dog and slept with his wife.

So, even though this is in the "off topic" portion of the forum, the people here >still< came to this forum as a whole to enjoy those who have like minded hobbies. Sitting around and doing deep and in depth research on vaccines just isn't something that the vast majority of people care about doing, nor arguing with someone on a gun forum about. So, yeah, Tans knows some stuff about vaccines from articles he has read. Other people have read other articles as well, or talked to doctors, or whatever. The resistance to debate isn't always in a lack of knowledge, but in a lack of a desire to go down a rabbit hole with someone who has repeatedly expressed no desire to ever come out.
