And predictably, the family of the dead guy is outraged that his victim would actually counter the armed robbery with deadly force and kill their sibling.

The video of them is a definate head-shaker.

Family Of Armed Robber, Who Was Shot And Killed, Says Clerk Shouldn’t Have Had Gun At Work

DAYTON, OHIO — A Dollar General store was robbed by a man in his 20’s, but he didn’t make off with the cash. Instead, the clerk drew a firearm and shot the suspect, who stumbled outside the store where he collapsed.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Here is how the events went down, according to police and witnesses;

Witnesses at the Dollar General told investigators that a person entered the store, revealed a handgun and then demanded money from the cash register, [Lt. Jason] Hall said.

A worker, who was not working at the cash register, was armed and confronted Rappley.

Witnesses said that he pointed the gun at employees, Hall said.
In a 911 call, a man told dispatchers that a man with a gun attempted to rob him at the store.

“He pointed a gun at me,” the caller said. “I had a firearm on me. I pulled my firearm and I shot him in self defense.”

From the family:

He’s got some responsibility, but not all. Right and wrong is wrong, that was wrong for that clerk to shoot my brother in the chest. Yes, he’s robbing them. Oh, well! Call the police, that’s what you’re supposed to do. You’re not supposed to take matters into your own hands.

I want to hear the rest of that interview, the sister is cut off at the end saying that she’s going to take matters into her own hands. With luck she’ll be #3 in the family hit parade.

Sadly, he’s right about 99% of the time. ONE person in that whole damned store was willing to fight back.

If I'm any judge, her "taking matters into her own hands" will constitute a lot of b*tching and moaning and general blaming of other people in a fashion that amounts to peacock strutting.

In other words, loud posturing.

I see the problem. The poor schmuck was raised by morons.

I keep hearing that we need to "have a conversation." I'm starting to think that conversation needs to be that justifiable use of deadly force is a thing. And for certain offenses is a real possibility. And when it happens to you, you are not the victim you are a criminal.

Entitlement
Responsibility

“I’m entitled and it’s always someone else’s responsibility.”

Can anybody guess how much the demise of Roosevelt Rappley is gonna affect my sleep tonight?

None.
At.
All.

Well it sure as hell will affect mine. I will sleep better knowing there is one more in the world willing to standup and say enuff is enuff and one less willing to rob others and place them in danger.

I would venture a guess, 3-10 are already gone. The others appear to be struggling with the concept of not taking what is not yours. I can assume there will be more to find out the hard way.

Family members like that should share collateral responsibility for the death of their family member, just like a getaway car driver has collateral responsibility for the death of the criminal he was driving for.
