Today I saw that Field and Steam in GSO has closed and there's a 'coming soon' sign for Sportsman's Warehouse - yall familiar with it?

We have a Sportsman's Warehouse in Wilmington.
Been in a couple times, bought some ammo on black friday.
Can't compare to F&S or Gander cause I haven't been there.

I’ve been to the Roanoke store and was impressed. Solid ammo selection, respectable reloading stock, etc. hope the new one lives up to the older sibling in VA.

Greensboro Field & Stream closed? I haven’t been in since I turned in my score card to them after dicks went all dicks. Hope this is true..
Why would I lie about it? lol

Had one in Fairbanks, AK liked it, a lot actually. Good selection of stuff, lot of reloading components at not quite ridiculous prices which was saying something there. Had a large gun counter I got decent deals on a few. Employees were typically enthusiasts of outdoor sports but not necessarily knowledgable, not that they let that stop their mouths. I understand they've changed the business some though.

I shop at Sportsmans Warehouse in Columbia a good bit. I mostly buy reloading supplies and components there and the selection is great and pricing is reasonable. One of the largest selection of powder of any brick and mortar store I've been in. Not sure about their other stores, but the customer service in Columbia is fantastic. I was recently looking for a couple types of powder and they were out on the shelf. The young lady in that department told me they just had a shipment of powder come in and it would be on the shelf the next day. I explained I was from out of town and she said if I didn't mind waiting a few minutes she would see if any was on the shipment and try to get some pulled. About 15 minutes later she appeared with everything I was looking for. Most places would have said just come back. From my experience, I think you will like shopping there.

There is one in Columbia SC. Everyone is spot on about the reloading components, they have a ton. They had Atomic subsonic .308 and .223 last time I was in Columbia. Never seen that in the wild before.

Only one I’ve been in was in Utah. As others have stated. Reloading supplies were aplenty. This one had a lot of handguns and rifles as well. Was the first place I had ever seen one Of those full conceal folding Glocks in person. I’m all for it. Getting tired of “sporting goods” stores that are glorified footlocker and gaps

MIDVALE, Utah, Sept. 30, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sportsman’s Warehouse Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: SPWH) announced today that it has entered into agreements with DICK’S Sporting Goods, Inc. (NYSE: DKS) to acquire 8 Field & Stream locations. The only downside I see is “sublease”. Dick is still getting $ coming in.

Each time I've subleased a property, it was at a wash (or loss) to the top line leasee.
No one subs unless they are in a bind.
I don't think "financing Dick's policies" is a big concern here.
IMHO

Had one in OR. They had a huge variety if reloading gear (where I bought mine actually) and other hunting and shooting related items. Prices are what you expect for the most part. I will admit to have bought some guns from them too.

I used to stop at their store in SC when I traveled down there. Mostly for fishing supplies. It is a good place. Glad we’ll have one closer.

Ditto!!!
I concur . Great selection and for the most part prices are better than Cabelas/ BassPro. I am ten minutes from the Greenville Cabelas but often opt to travel 30 miles to Anderson Sportsmans Warehouse instead. As mentioned above
employees seem eager to go that extra mile...

I've been to the one in Roanoke and I have purchased some ammo online from them when they had a good sale.
They are definitely an upgrade to F&S or Dick's. We got the better end of this move.

I personally like the one in Wilmington very much. I have bought a pistol, other odds and ends, and reloading supplies there including a LnL AP press. Not sure if its company policy for all stores but they price matched an online price for the LnL press I bought, at a considerably lower price than the price on the shelf. I was prepared to order online, as an afterthought I asked the guy I usually talk to in the gun department, and he matched it right away. Looked up what their cost was on it and made the comment he was basically selling it for their cost, but he also made the comment about knowing Ive spent a fair amount in there as well. Why I support the local stores as much as possible.

I’ve bought a lot of stuff from Sportsman’s Warehouse online. Never had a problem and they have good sales from time to time. I wonder if this is the same business?

Plus 1 for Wilmington!

I probably like it the best of any gun store.
Most gun associates are very knowledgeable and also give you a heads up about sales that may be coming up that they've heard about.

Ayone know where the second store will be located?

I'd like to know this as well. There was a F&S in Cary - not sure if it's still empty or not.
I think it was taken over by Hobby Lobby or something similar.

Asheville F&S is closed. Grandson had been by there and said it looked like all the inventory was still in the store, and a sign saying Sportsman's Warehouse coming soon.
