Well someone stole our riding mower out from the carport this morning. According to the kids it was there when they left for school and gone when we went to the grocery store at noonish.

Must have been multiple folks as it wasn't running and missing a belt and was a bitch to push. There's no disturbance in the gravel so they likely picked it up and carried it off.

Hardly surprising really. Our neighbour is on parole and there's a dope house next to him. I suspect before long I'll be hunting crackheads over bait, because I will not stand for thieves.

well it ain't for scrapping, metal prices are in the absolute toilet. I was quoted .03 a lb yesterday. I hate that man, I had a BORROWED log splitter stolen from our yard a few years back. Had to pay for a tool I didn't get to use long.

You guys are really having a rough time of it lately. Hope things get better soon!

If they're toting it, they're not far..... time for a walkabout.

We did that already, don't see it in the neighbours yards. They probably used a truck or something.

Can we try to have a positive attitude, though? (Not to make light of hard times, but it might help a little bit.)

Honestly, probably not. Best I can do these days is acceptance. I've come to expect the worst.

We had a mower stolen out of our back yard one night several years ago. We lived on a really busy road with lots of foot traffic. We had never been bothered before that, though. Funny thing is that the engine was seized and I hadn't hauled it to the dump, yet. I bet they had a surprise when they took it to the pawn shop. They did me a huge favor - saved me a 20 minute drive to the convenience center.

Sorry to hear of your woes. :(

Don’t underestimate someone whose addiction is bad enough. It’s an awful state to witness. :(
I can’t stand theives.

According to a neighbour the guy next door is fond of crack.

I was taking the riding mower to do our yard in High Point and we stopped at the Lowe’s on Elm Eugene in a Greensboro. My wife went in the store and I stayed with the trailer with the ZT mower on it. A truck with two guys pulled up beside me (I was at the far end of the parking lot taking up multiple spaces) saw me in the car and took off and didn’t even park and shop. Think they thought they were going to get them a mower.

Well I remembered I had a wifi security camera and just installed it. It's not really an outdoor camera but it should be ok under the eaves where I put it.

If they come back it pings my phone so I can go and speak to them.

Start crapping in a bucket so you can throw it on them.Don't think talking to them will get you anywhere.BE careful as they likely have nothing to lose.

I had a Weber stainless grill on a trailer and pulled into a Wally World late one evening. I went in and the wife stayed in the car. Almost immediately she saw a pickup roll from the far side of the lot and pull up by my truck. A guy got out and started walking around the trailer trying to see what was under the Weber cover. Apparently, he didn't notice the truck was running. My wife had me on the phone at that point and tapped the horn. The guy was startled, realized the truck was running and jumped in his truck and took off. By the time I got out there, he was long gone. BTW, my wife was armed. ;)

So was I. It does make you think about the legalities of lethal force when it comes to situations like that. Despite what probably passes for zeitgeist today, you are under no obligation to simply allow the thieves to victimize you and then call for the govt. after the fact (I would argue that we need to return to people being more responsible) However, confronting them, carries risk and if they decide to escalate violently it could quickly turn to a lethal force scenario, especially in a case where there are multiple attackers which increases the disparity of force portion.

My undocumented neighborhood pharmacist was arrested in front of my house yesterday.

I gotta find a new supplier.

Sorry about the thieves. I've been fortunate not to have that problem here.

Our local druggy/thief down on the end of the road (about a mile from me) had a house fire earlier in the week.. looks like a total loss, neighbors already getting the ball rolling on having the county tear it down or whatever they can do. Need to keep the vermin far away.

Having been burgled 3x in my life (once as a kid 2x as an adult) I have zero tolerance for them. Burn them all. Got a relative who thinks that is extreme, and my answer was "well, considering I have nothing from my deceased grandfather now because some POS stole it"... I think they sort of understood then..

I wouldnt think that the localf FD would investigate closely if his house burned down considering his is a crack head.

It lacks power and water and he only seems to live here sometimes, do yes most likely.

On a completely unrelated note the proliferation of CCTV isn't always a good thing lol

Our local Sherrif Dept tends to calk up such fires to kerosene heaters or kids. Wear a balaclava and your set.

I rented a house in Sanford for a year and about three months in found out one of the neighbors was a crack dealer. Had some issues with him, the final one when he broke into my house and stole a pistol and my seven week old puppy. I never could pin it on him but was able to find my dog and get her back after a few days. He later broke into the house again after I moved out and stole my buddies shotgun. Got caught with it the next night and the sheriffs department came and asked if he wanted to press charges.
