She was in chat ~4:30p and said she had to go clean guns to be ready to go shooting on Thursday. Didn’t indicate she was going today.

Update from Fayetteville Observer....

It's sad folks decide suicide is their best option but to go and do it using a business’s location and inventory is pretty selfish.

I’m assuming she rented a gun because if she had her own, why go to the range to kill yourself.

Sad indeed.

Years ago while living in Knoxville, I was headed to the range one morning when the radio told me there had been a shooting there. Turns out a lady rented a gun, fired five or six rounds at a target, then turned it on herself.
The range was closed down less than three months later. It reopened under a new name, and subsequently closed again, twice in the next year or so.

Hope Jim's has a little more survivability

First thing that pops into my mind was a ND while taking a selfie or some other shenanigans... females don't typically take one to the head to off them selves. Not saying it never happens, just not statistically common.

True that women are less likely to shoot themselves in the head. Although I shoot at indoor ranges I like to look a bit after assigned a lane. Rookies make me extremely nervous. Watching others clear a malfunction is almost unbearable.

2 seperate indoor ranges in Wilmington have had rental gun suicides in the last few years...
Definitely a selfish act but if they are at that point mentally, probably not a big concern.
Everything about suicide is selfish... It leaves way more messes then the range floor.

Hate to see stuff like this

that place gets way crowded for me, same with guns plus ..
This is why I prefer to go in there at 9 am, and usually so. Not a lot going on at that time.

This is an awful thing that's happened, and will bring up some stuff for many of us, I'm sure.

Every time something like this happens, it reminds me of that story in 2009 of the lady who took her son to the range, shot him, then herself claiming she was the Anti-Christ and she had to save him and end her life for 1,000 years of peace.
