NC sales tax on purchases at SGAMMO and Palmettostatearmory

I have not read enuff on it yet, but anyone know already if it is relevant to firearms and ammo only?
or most any out of state online purchases? Like say a jacket from a store outside of NC?

NC took several big companies to court over sales taxes. Including Amazon.
This.

It has to do with the size of the company. Larger companies were targeted and as a result other large companies are avoiding being next. Also those with more eComm resources will likely charge tax to avoid future legal issues and large penalties. Small companies are unlikely to be targeted for a while IMO.

That is a new one on SG Ammo. I ordered something from them a month or so ago and there was no tax.

The Department requires all remote sellers having gross sales in excess of one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) sourced to North Carolina or two hundred (200) or more separate transactions sourced to North Carolina in the previous or current calendar year (“Threshold”) to register, collect, and remit sales and use tax to this State effective November 1, 2018 or 60 days after a remote seller meets the Threshold, whichever is later. Remote sellers may voluntarily begin collecting and remitting sales and use tax any time prior to November 1, 2018.

NC needs more of your money to give to people who aren't giving them more of their money
The worst of it is that the system was designed to get people “feel good” about paying taxes. It’s fair. It’s for services, one of the few that isn’t hidden from people is the sales tax.

I should share a thread on Nextdoor where I complained about the taxes in High Cost point. $3053 on a roughly $221k tax valued house. Roughly double the rate of what our Chatham properties get hit with. I was met with excuses about how it’s my fair share and it’s to provide services, and thst it’s comparable to other municipalities, and the worst one was that if I find it difficult or don’t like to pay it to escrow it monthly. Not one person said, wait, why are we paying this? The founding fathers would have been aghast at the idea of if you don’t pay annual rent thst they’ll try to seize your property. If you ask me, this is as big, if not bigger outrage than the gun grabbing.

I would’ve lost that bet...as that’s roughly $800 more than it would’ve been living in Charlotte.

People today have no concept whatsoever what real freedom is.

Well since you have always been required to pay the NC sales tax on any out of state purchases via the internet on your NC state income tax all you are doing now is paying it at the time of purchase. :) I have seen almost every retailer of any size start to charge NC sales tax. Only vendors small enough to fly under the radar are not complying.

i have been stocking up on ammo last few months and made a couple of large for me orders. The last order I did from SGAmmo was 9.12.19 no sales tax. They started adding tax before the end of Sept, at least when I price checked them against Target Sports USA (once a week every week since Sept. 12).

Businesses do not charge sales taxes, they just collect it. ;)
Software packages take care of all the accounting and send the funds to the states via EFT.

Wow. We old goats see too much based on back when. My daughter pays way more real estate taxes in Austin Tx than we do here. She and husband are about to be red pilled looks like. California yankees fled west coast prices but brought all the high cost baggage with them. High income/ low intelligence reboot robots. They even look like they need to plug in for an hour. Weirdos. They got a new homeless tax ( on people who own houses.) Governor Abbot made them send the campers out to some Hooverville Ranchette at least. Off the streets for now. Nuts. A huge portion of their school taxes go down south so the border jumping wetback schools can have better everything. It's rich. I'm learning a lot. NC isn't quite the disaster yet but the same mindset is pretty common here too.
