Free wood post got me thinking

I posted this on the book of faces last week and I stand by it.
We live on a large amount of acreage and I am doing my best to practice proper land management. We burn through about 3-4 cords of wood a winter and I'm very behind this year with only about two cords on the ground. We will be cutting a bunch next weekend, and since I wont have two other houses to take care of this summer I hope to stack up about 4 years worth.

And here is a picture of me passing the lessons along, we have a splitter but it's so much more fun making him work.

My friend works in DC for the USDA, specifically the Forestry Service.
While he leans left on many things, this is where he'll complain about many on the left side - they dont understand how cutting culling some trees helps the environment and is better for us in the long run

I don't think you can have a wood burning appliance in CA can you?? I know in CO way back when I was there they were attempting to outlaw wood burning because of the "pollution" it caused... Wonder how that's working out in CA these days??
