Heading over to Denmark for a bit of a vacation, just looking out to see if anyone has traveled through the area and for recommendations of where to eat/drink or things to do.

Depends on what you like. The Viking Ship museum in Roskilde is, IMO, a great attraction. The cathedral there is worth a visit. The National Museum in Copenhagen is worth the trip. Copenhagen is a nice city to simply walk in and enjoy.

Thanks, we will be staying in Copenhagen but I was planning on trying to see the castles so I can add the viking museum to the list.

Definitely keep us posted on how it goes. Copenhagen is in my list of places to visit...

I would like to check out a restaurant called Sanchez. Odd, I know. Tacos in Copenhagen, but the chef is a Boss who's worked at some of the top kitchens in the world.

Denmark was pretty fun but my wife and I didn't really stray outside of Copenhagen. The National Museum was nice and their War Museum was pretty interactive and had an awesome Afghanistan portion with a very small OP to simulate the area to include a blown up vehicle. I do recommend a canal tour and as long as heights aren't an issue than a trek up the 400 steps at the Church of our Savior has an amazing view. As far as food, we ate at Sticks and Sushi a lot and a hot dog stand or two due to them being everywhere. Many restaurants there seemed foreignish and not true Danish food. We did go to one restaurant, Klubben, that served more traditional food and it was what I would consider hearty southern food with roasts and pork.

A few things learned:
-99% of everyone speaks english and most menus are in english, just ask.
-Water is not usually free at restaurants nor are refills.
-The cost of living is higher in Denmark (their minimum wage is like $19USD) so food and other items can be expensive.
-Bikes and walking are the easiest way to get around, taxis can be expensive. I think it was about $50USD from the airport to Copenhagen.
-The Danish are frank people and don't do as much small talk as we do.
-Tipping is not expected at restaurants.
-Don't bother exchanging currency, almost everyone takes card. Just make sure your card is accepted, we used the Visa card because the Discover card was hit or miss.

Everyone's experiences may very. I will preface that I went in the winter so I got to see lots of Christmas decorations but the weather was overcast and cold all the time with intermittent rain so dress in layers. Some of the information may be common knowledge but it was the first time I traveled overseas because I wanted to and not on a deployment to some third world country so the info was new to me. I am sure I missed stuff and if there are any other questions than just hit me up.

I have heard it's a global city. One of the reasons I'm interested in going. I also like going places in the off season. I always feel like you get a better feel for a place when it's not jammed up with tourists.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it.
