As we draw closer to Christmas, I know my parents will ask me what I want again.
And, like last year, I got a few suggestions off of here that I got for Christmas and really enjoyed!

So, I'll ask again - any book recommendations?
Im seeking historical books, no fiction.
Big fan of WW2 and Cold War, but also interested in TR and maybe you have something that you'd recommend that I've not thought of before.

Im always looking to increase my knowledge of history, I always want to get better at my job.

Not WWII, but I'm only a third of the way through this and it's been a good read.

Trotter's "Frozen Hell" is probably the premiere English language book about the Winter War.

30 Seconds Over Tokyo is a childhood favorite.

Sepp Allerberger's memoir is a good overview of the German defeat and retreat in the East told by a German sniper.

Hans Ulrich Rudel was a Stuka pilot on the eastern front.

Masters of the Air by Donald L Miller - about the 8th Air Force in WWII (very informative)

D Day through German Eyes - part 1 and 2 by Holger Eckhertz (interesting perspevtives),

Not quite a setting within the last century or something your parents would give you for Christmas, but Asimov's Guide to the Bible is an historic approach to an epic topic (and it's free in PDF form).

Recommended a while back. Got it, read it, shared it with others. Really enjoyed that one!

Anything by James Crumley. Mexican Tree Duck, Border Snakes & Dancing Bear are three good ones to start with. Granted they are fiction but you should give them a try.

If you like bio's from the early 20th century/WWII time, check out The Second Most Powerful Man in the World (https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/...l-man-in-the-world-by-phillips-payson-obrien/). I like biographies anyway, and I really like bio's on the great WWII leaders (because their influence grew out of what they experienced in the first half of the 20th century). Leahy is extraordinarily complex, and he had a hand in most of the post-WWII US policy.
