Love my RO!
Enjoy, that's a great 1st step into the 1911 world!

That’s a fine lead slinger. I’ve sold (or given away) seven 1911s in the past year, from Wilson to Rock Island. The SA RO is the one I decided to keep.

Sexy!
You'll soon have more. And down the rabbit hole of 1911s you go! Have fun!!!

Now you need to see Gunbelt for some proper leather so it can ride around in comfort. I hear people complain about the weight of these things and I swear I forget I’m wearing it sometimes.

Congrats on your first 1911. I started my relationship with mine back in 1982 and it just clicked with me. Had no reason to look at younger firearm make, she and I have aged well together.Ive competed with her for hundreds of thousands of rounds. I have had to replace a few controls here and there, a barrel now and then? But shes been faithful to me over the years as I have to her. Until recently,,,,,,Shes been replaced with a younger sibling,, a 9MM 1911. I almost feel bad , but the 9Mm makes me feel young again. Maybe there is a Corvette in my future?

I sure hope they've improved the suspension or whatever, since I drove a '72 one ages ago. Nice car, but horrible ride, felt every tiny thing it went over!

I test drove a 1979 corvette in 1988, brought back fond memories of riding in the hay wagon while bales were being thrown from the baler.

If it didn't weight 14lbs my SA Champion may well have been the only pistol I owned.
Very accurate, fairly soft shooting, reliable as gravity before I started "fixing" it.
Great pistols.

the only thing I changed on my 1911 officers is the grips to hogue finger grove wrap around grips

You can shoot anything in it... nothing labeled "45 ACP" will hurt it. Them are semi wadcutters.

But Billy means it was designed to shoot 230 grain ball ammo, and there are good reasons to stick with that, and eschew hollow points.

Hard to make an RO not run in .45acp. I have never had one issue with mine in maybe 3000 rounds and if a 1911 can be bent, broken, or made to not run, I can do it, but this one has been rock solid. I might pull off that grip tape, get brave and checker that front strap.

I also fit a Wilson low lever thumb safety, EGW mag release, S&A magwell, adjusted trigger pull to 3.5, fit Harrison U notch rear sight, VZ Operator II grippy grips.
It’s great match blaster.
