The weather was giving me an excuse to not run, so I joined for the treadmill.
Did 1.5 miles yesterday at 5.5MPH, zero incline. I definitely prefer a track.
The 1 mile mark was at 9.40 mins.
I'd like to get that back down to 8.5 mins asap.

This is my first foray into a gym that the great unwashed masses may utilize.

I've not yet ventured into the locker room. I have heard horrific stories of homo geriatrics taking advantage of the scenery.

A mentally disabled rain man type dude was there yesterday. He was unsupervised. I felt really bad for the employee who was basically being used as a babysitter.

I left feeling like I had caught a case of athletes lung fungus. There isn't enough bleach in the entire state of NC to clean that place.

The owner has everything to do with the way they are ran and cleaned.

The one I use is spotless and smells neutral If thay makes sense

I am extremely lucky as the office I work in installed a full gym for us about 2 years ago and is staffed with full time trainers. There is a full locker room with showers, but there is also male and female handicapped bathrooms that have showers as well. We don't currently have any handicapped employees that use the facility, so every day when I work out I have my own private changing room by using them. Over time you get used to seeing other people come and go. Some know what they are doing, many don't. Some are smart enough to ask for help while others just waste their time putting in near zero effort and burning out after a few weeks seeing no improvement.

Nice!

And yeah you only get out what you out in. Funny timing, we're about t(I'm looking for shoes) look at the Y in Eden.

The planet fitness I go to is quite nice. Locker rooms are always clean and nobody bothers you.
Same with the one near my house my wife and I go to. 20 Bucks a month for both of us can't be beat.

Hope y'all never have to try to cancel your membership with them. I've heard horror stories from two people. There's a reason they want your bank account rather than debit card number.

Again, my experience is different. The wife decided she likes the Y better, walked into PF and was cancelled in just a few minutes. No hassle at all.

I cancelled without an issue when I went back to school in VA. A few summers ago. I am back with them now but no issues then.

Just got back from the Y, looks like we'll be joining shortly.

The only thing I thought was lame is I set it up online, but had to actually go in to cancel. Literally the only time I set foot in the place. If my wife hadn't pushed my dumbass would still be paying. Pretty sure that's the business model.

That's why I opened a separate free checking account specifically to pay PF from. I'll just close the account before I tell them I want to cancel.

The best gym in the area, over on Horton/Guess, closed down. THAT was an awesome gym.

You can always come back to F3 ;)

That's a deal breaker for me with any business arrangement. NO-damn-body gets to put a straw directly into my checking account.
unfortunately you will get overdraft charges if they charge that account even if it's closed if they do charge it.

USAA will let you block transactions from any company. I had recurring bill from NHL.TV that their 'unsubscribe' function mysteriously didn't work. So, I called USAA and put a block on that company. No fees, no charges...took me about 5 minutes.

I am a member at the Graham PF.
Its OK, just an older facility. The manager said they replace equipment every 5 years. I like the variety of equipment to choose from. And from time to time the scenery is quite interesting.

I like NMF in Hillsborough. A lot of power lifters and pro strongman competitors go there so the gym has everything you need. Relatively cheap and I know he gives deals to military, first responders, etc.

Ditto. I have been toying with the idea of joining a cheap gym for a little bit to try out some rowers/assault bikes to see which one I want to buy though :)

Concept2 (model D, I think) is THE best rower out there. A grandish, but practically indestructible and will last forever.

Yeh - I know the concept is the way to go. Just not sure if i want a rower or a assault bike.

The new apartment complex my daughter moved into has two brand new gym rooms no extra charge for residents of the complex.
She cancelled her Y membership.

I go to a Workout Anytime and its clean(ish) and never really smells like bleach, they use simple green as a cleaner so maybe a faint scent of licorice.

F3 is the answer. Free, always find someone to run with, and bootcamps always bring a variety depending on who the Q is. Definitely the better way to go.

Where do you post, and what's your F3 name?
