Big news from Glock!!!

A .22 cal Glock. The fanboys will rejoice.

Soon we'll hear the Geck45 types talking about how Gaston invented the .22lr and how all other .22 pistols are inferior.

I'll stick to my Ruger Mk. III. Maybe I'll pick up a S&W Victory now that everyone's going to be trading them in on magic tupperware.

I'm not, BUT....

If I was in the market for a semi auto polymer plinker in .22, and I had narrowed it down to the Keltec PMR 30 or the G44, I would choose the Glock just based on perceived reliability from the two companies...

But the fact that the G44 only has a 10rd magazine kills it... That's ridiculous... They should have made at least a 20rd mag...
The PMR-30 is 22mag so that's apples and oranges. Their CP33 holds 33rds of 22lr with a 50rd mag on the way. Their P17 pistol holds 17 rounds. Both have threaded barrels, are optics ready, and I'd put money on them having better triggers. MSRPs of $475 and $199 respectively.

American James Paris Lee invented the detachable double stacked magazine for rimmed cartridges back in 1879! (tell that fact to anti gunners) Later used and adopted by the Brits in the Lee Enfield rifle series. In full auto the Czechs modified their excellent vz30 LMG for the Brits in .303. They called it the BREN gun.

In .22 handguns double stack magazines have been used by KelTec, Grendel, Taurus. The new KelTec .22LR is actually a quad stack. Glock not leaning forward enough. People still looking for 20+ years for a Glock carbine or 1911.

I don't think that 22lr and 22wmr are like comparing apples and oranges...

More like comparing a Granny Smith with a Red Delicious. Different, but still both are apples...

From the TFB article...

Q. What is the GLOCK 44 magazine capacity?

A. These two G44’s use 10 round magazines, although there have been whispers of possible 15 round magazines in the future (my GLOCK carrying cases were marked 15 round).

Q. Are there GLOCK 44 threaded barrel versions available?

A. Factory G44 threaded barrels will be available on the commercial launch date.

That does make it sound a little better...

Glock has a carbine in the works with a modular frame. They also have been working with a partner in USA . The next big thing. Think take down and different calibers.

I think you’ll have a better chance at seeing Bigfoot riding a unicorn while blowing rainbow farts across the white house lawn then a Glock Carbine.

It's important when you are at the range and you have to stop to reload a mag every 3 seconds... Haha

I think for training purposes, it would make sense for a 22lr Glock 19 to hold 15.

Honestly a quality made 22lr pistol would not be a bad addition. I just wanted them to drop a 9mm carbine, but they never will.

Where are you getting this info from?

Looks like it’s a G44 in 22lr. Didn’t see that coming.

And looks like I’m Late to the part. Lol

same source who told me on the .22lr, think I was first here to state it would be .22lr. Sold glocks before they were popular and abundant, kept up with contacts. Slowly glock will be pulled to the future, it's all about market shares and they are always late to the game. What if glock made their own pistol brace ready package and cut out the middle man?

The Glock Carbine "coming out soon" was the running joke on GlockTalk when I was there in the early 2000s.

I may have to reconsider my position on Glocks. ;)

Am I the only person NOT disappointed by this? my only problem is that Glock doesn’t really sell OEM parts. Hopefully they will release their own “conversion kit” but that would be even more “breaking news” from them.

At the end of the day, a truly new Glock, in a ubiquitous and cheap caliber is actual news—as opposed to hyperbolic next gen BS that amounts to including or not including finger groves etc.

hell theyre marketing is so damn good with seemingly trite upgrades I had a raging gun boner for their 19x. Woooooo. The tan is sooo pretty (color, not the gun obviously :) ) and did they say night sights too!!!!??? How revolutionary ! Don’t get me wrong I love the thing, and all my glocks. They are what they are. One thing they have never been, is 22lr.

Hmm so my M&P22 compact is still viable in view of current events, who'd a thunk it!

BTW I said it was a 22LR but not sure I was first ;)

What I cant believe is since ,iicr 1982, and the kool-aid drinkers still wait for something innovative from a curtain rod mfg Gaston started in the curtain rod business and to this day makes things that are best covered by cloth and not seen

I'd prefer the Advantage Arms kit to turn my 9mm Glock into .22LR. It's much cheaper than buying a complete Glock (we don't know the cost of the G44 yet) and still has 10 round magazines.
I understand the new Glock having 10 round magazines so they can be sold in more states. However, if Glock had made a 15, 20, 30 round magazine available, they would have a lot more interest. Maybe they will someday.
I'll just continue to shoot my Ruger SR-22.....with 10 round magazines.

Cost is $430 MSRP, up from $400 in a few previews I have seen. Even fanboyism ain't gonna command a $100 premium over Ruger and Smiff compact 22lrs with METAL slides.

Agreed on both counts.

The Advantage kit allows you to train with the actual pistol you are training for.

And, I don't think anything would make me not want to shoot my SR-22.

Geezer, do you know how the Advantage Arms kit affects the weight of the 19?

I am a former Glock fanboy. When I first got into firearms I was impressed that Glock seemed to have all the good options needed. Good CCW, good competition guns, good caliber selection, and so forth. But since then, all I have seen is every other company coming out with new and improved offerings. Glock then waits a while and comes out with something similar and announces how amazing it is. They seem to be living about 2 years in the past and pretending its 2 years in the future.

I'll bet that when all the fans go out and buy this piece of s#!t that the forum will be flooded with them for sale in a couple of months. Maybe it will give the Glock 19 a run for it's most sold handgun on the site. The buildup on this crap makes me want to puke. A polymer composite slide. Really .I'll stick with my High Standard,Ruger and Browning steel guns .Had it been a 22 mag maybe I would have an interest. Nah
