Cimmaron Pistolero?

Or a Taylor and Co.... Not looking for expensive Colts, but had a Vaquero, sold it, but saw that Cimmaron in a catalog at the shop and thought it was a nice looking hog leg.

And where are yall shooting Cowboy Action Shooting?

My FFL buddy and I ordered a Davidson's exclusive Cimarron revolver back right after the first of the year. My buddy had just got back from the SHOT show and he had spent a lot of time at the Cimarron booth. He even called me and told me how nice they were. The reps assured him that these display guns were normal production guns and not hand picked for the show.

Right after SHOT show Davidson's had a 4 3/4" , nickel, with special wooden grips, available in 45 Colt or .357 Mag. Neither of us had a single action revolver in .357 Mag so we ordered 2 of them. When they came the action was very nice but the finish was horrible. There were many sand marks and scratches underneath the nickel. Both were the same. I wanted to like the gun and I was going to use it but I couldn't get past the finish.

Both my buddy and me called Cimarron and we were both told "that's they way they are". Davidson's has their unconditional money back guarantee so my buddy talked to his rep there. He told us that we could return them and that's what we did.

All of that to say that since then I have seen Cimarron revolvers at gunshows and pawn shops and every one of them looked very good. The fit, finish, and action were all very good. I even saw a well used nickel Cimarron at a pawn shop in Virginia and it looked much better than my new one did. If I could handle and examine the gun before I bought it, I'd try another one. But, I'll never order one sight unseen.

Taylor's & Co is having a Christmas Open House today in Winchester, VA. You can look at their website to see what they have on sale, or call them after you look at the site. If you were there, they have a table of "dint and ding" firearms. Most of their revolvers are Uberti. The Open House was yesterday and today. I went last time and really enjoyed it. The next open house will be in May. I bought a 3 1/2 inch birdshead for just over $400, and my brother bought a 58 Conversion like Clint Eastwood carried in some of the movies, both off of the dint and ding table. I'm like @Geezer, I have a hard time buying a revolver sight unseen. Good Luck.

I had no choice... to get a Cimmaron Lightning 32, I had to order it. The only problem was that the grip medallions fell off. I replaced them with $1 Gold pieces from 1851. I like this little 32 a whole lot.

Sneaky, I've got a 45 Colt Redhawk that choots the lights out. If'n I get another, I think I'd like to have my 45 Colt Bisley Blackhawk back. I traded it to @cubrock and now regret it. (Of course, it's long gone...) 45 Colt is a heck of a rifle cartridge, and only the Rugers can handle the same load as a 45 Colt rifle.

I’m in Upstate SC and regularly shoot in Greenville and Belton.

There’s a pretty comprehensive list of cowboy clubs (including some that are not currently SASS affiliated) at www.carolinacowboys.us

Looks like you may be close to the VA state line and not far from TN. Check for clubs in those neighboring states on the main SASS website, www.sassnet.com
