tl/dr - I liked it.

So I am a very basic, predictable guy.
I have routines. For example, on Sunday mornings I go to the grocery store for the week's groceries.
But this weekend I got off that track and went to ATL, which I highlighted in the BTBAM thread.
So I get home yesterday afternoon, exhausted and not really wanting to deal with shopping in the afternoon traffic and thought "crap, what now?"

And then I remembered my friend mentioning Walmart's online ordering, so I hopped on their website and got to shopping.
Wow, it was great!

There is a 30 dollar minimum, but you just go on their site, look up stuff, add to cart etc and then. Put in your payment/credit card, and then you select when you'll pick it up.

I had to download their grocery app, and then 'check in' on my way. Once I arrived it, my phone, knew I was there and asked me which spot I was in and color of car. Within 90 seconds of parking I had my groceries at my car and they were going to load them up for me, but, I helped because why not.

There is NO CHARGE for this process and i will use it again sometime as it just made things so simple and kept me from overspending and buying random things which can, at times, be bad.

Just wanted to give my thoughts on it

I use this service ALL the time. And I love it also! I generally don’t get my produce on the orders. Every so often you’ll get bad tomatoes or fruit. But it is such a time saver. I’m usually off on Fridays, and pick up about 10am .

glad you like it.

I ordered bananas on this order, they look fine and will be fine for my breakfast smoothies

Walmart is still the Debil! Sometimes I have to use it but I still try to stay away as much as possible!

I was going to ask about produce and meat selection. That being the majority of my grocery shopping and its selective nature probably makes it a no go for me...

At home I use very little packaged food products...

Make sure you put NO substitutions or you will end up with all kinds of crazy stuff. Had one order with great value deodorant, jelly, beans and oatmeal and they always pick the biggest size.

Yeah, I can't imagine a Wal-Mart employee I would trust with selecting my food...

What we do is select staples of our diets like butter, eggs, diet coke,English muffins ect. Save them with no substations and it's ok. This time only thing odd was getting a like 2lb container of chicken tenderloins.

After they missed the deliver times by a couple hours and I wasn’t able to get my groceries and they had my money tied up for a few days I said screw it and I just go in the store.
The service saved me no time and no money but caused added frustration.

Wife uses Food Lion's pick-up service, seems to like it, saves money and keeps junk out of the cart. They contact her about substitutions if out of an item.

Harris teeter does it as well

I have used Harris Teeter and Lowe's Foods online ordering and pick-up for years. It is definitely a timesaver but, don't order fresh seafood and be very specific (there is a order notes area) regarding special needs. And, if you call in with any complaint, the store managers will bend over backwards to make it right. I have received free cases of soda and various other accomadations for messed up orders

We did both the pickup and sometimes home delivery at Wal-Mart until they went anti-gun, now I try not to buy any more from them than I have to. It was nice to get the Wal-Mart prices without the horrible Wal-Mart experience. When wife had her surgery, the delivery was very helpful. For $8 they will bring it inside and sit it on your kitchen counter. However, I stopped buying the produce and fresh meat there because we had some bad experiences. Sure, you can call them, tell them the lettuce was terrible, and they will refund it, but it's a hassle for just a dollar or two. Better to just go to a store where you can come home with what you went there for.

I was convinced that Harris Teeter was way more expensive than Wal Mart, but I've found that's not always the case. If you play their game, stocking up when it's on sale, you can get out of there for about the same price. HT charges about $6 when they do the shopping for you.

I've been using the Walmart grocery pickup for about 5 months now.
It has been a great time saver!
At first I didn't trust them for any perishables. After a month or so I started with the dairy... milk, cheese, eggs, etc.
I am very fussy with my meat and produce so I didn't order any until about 2 months ago.
Meat wise I stick with prepackaged items like their chicken and tube ground chuck.
I am now 100% into my list except for steaks and other beef. I am not happy with their beef selection and prices.
If you choose certain items to be substituted and they do you'll usually get a larger size for the original price.
e.g. this past week my wife ordered 10# of flour for her holiday baking. Instead of subbing 2-5# bags, they subbed a 25# bag for the same price
as the 10# bag. She got 25# of flour for under $3. This goes for any subbed item. Order a 12oz pkg of something and if it's
out of stock, you get the 16oz for the same price as the 12oz.

I go to Food Lion or Harris Teeter for their sale beef and load up. I go maybe once a month for meat.
Grocery shopping went from a chore and walking a huge store to driving in and getting it delivered to you.
You also save a lot of money by buying only what you need, no impulse buying.
I am sold on this system. I highly recommend it to those who dislike grocery shopping.

Also, if you do a search from the grocery app, you can order anything from the store. I've bought Minwax, a paint brush,
masking tape, yarn, printing paper and even a printer on sale. You have to be in the grocery app
to have this added to your pickup. They have their regular shopping app and a specific grocery app. If you are not
in the grocery app you'll get the regular delivery or in-store pick up options. Order in the grocery app and
it's delivered to your car. Very nice system

Sorry but I’m unable to understand the attraction. Yeah, they bring it out to your car but you miss out on the only amusement park that doesn’t charge for admission. :D

Not for me, I would rather pick out my own groceries. Much less let some of the people I see working there pick out food for me. I wouldn't do it at Harris Teeter either since they have the same program.

We use Walmart and Lowes online ordering pretty much all the time now. My wife plans meals for the week and the odds and ends we usually need and then orders it for pick up. Not only is it easier than dragging kids around the store, it saves us money because she can shop deals easier and we don't buy all the random stuff on a whim like we always do.

As far as substitutions go, we have never really had a problem. We buy quite a bit of generic brand stuff, so if they are out of that they will substitute in a named brand, so it actually works out in our favor most of the time.

We use both Wal-Mart's and Harris Teeter's pickup service and have been impressed with the quality of the meat and fish from both. Produce has been a different story------potatoes,carrots etc are fine but fruits tend to look like scraps.

Because with 3 young kids it prevents me from being your amusement and tying a kid off each corner of the buggy to get grocery shopping done.

As someone above said, it kept me from wandering the isles and finding random things that I really dont need. I liked that.
I ordered bananas - they are fine, had one today, actually.

I, too, was worried about the dairy products, but everything was a o k, still cold when they brought it out to the car (the bin it was in was cold too, they keep the bins separate, apparently).

As for their anti-gun policy... ok. They arent selling certain ammo, but they still sell others and theyre selling guns still.

I love the concept but I am picky about my produce I don't use the online services that much because I have to go in anyway. I try to stay out of the middle isles as much as possible.

I'm ok with them choosing what they want to sell and what they don't. I'm not OK with them writing letters to Congress and the White House asking them to "reopen the discussion on an assault rifle ban".

I should give this service a try. I'd rather do my grocery shopping somewhere other than Walmart, but all of my local chains either don't carry the brands I prefer, or they carry a smaller package that's considerably more expensive than Walmart's large package. (For example, Food Lion's price for 10oz of Cabot cheese is the same as Walmart's price for 2lbs) Out of necessity, I have to do a fair amount of my grocery shopping at Walmart.

The wandering zombies, screaming children, partially dressed trailer park denizens, and the mouth breathers that cough, sneeze, and hack without covering their face usually have me wanting a drink by the time I leave Walmart. This service could help preserve my sanity.

Did it again today...not as good.
The issue was the wait.
It wasnt ready by the time I was supposed to pick up (1-2)
I got notification it was ready at about 1:45.
I got there in no time and then proceeded to wait for thirty minutes as they were backed up.
I will do it again, but choose a different day and/or time for pickup

Have used it every week since this thread began.
Lets talk substitutions.
Ive gotten substitutions before, no worries.
This week I added something that I often overlook - handwipes. I keep them in my range bag, a small pack in all my bags and one in the door cubby on my car. Your hands are dirty or feel greasy (maybe just sneezed in your hand or picked up a dirty car part) - wipe your hands off. In the summer and youre sweaty, wipe your face off etc.

I typically just get the WM brand ones for very cheap.

Placed 2 in my cart.

I get there and he's going through my substitutions.
They were out of glass bottle pineapple jarritos soda, so they gave me 2 liter versions for the same price.
Out of the WM brand white cheddar cheeze its, so I got REAL white cheddar Cheez-Its
Same for apple filling and one other thing (cant remember what, no big deal).

But the wet wipes, apparently they were out of Equate brand.
So, your first thought would be, 'ok, they gave him a larger pack in it's place...'
Nah bruh

yeah, that lol

I've used the Wal Mart deal for the past two weeks and can't complain about anything really. I do question though why they are scared to put more than one item in a bag!
Anybody else experience that?

I just returned from Harris-Teeter. Been shopping there since WM went anti-gun. I bought a very large cart full, and it was $87.00, and the VIC savings were $97--more than 50% off. I'm discovering that with HT, if you play their game, stocking up when it's on sale, doing the e-VIC thing, you'll pay about the same for a cart as WM. Meanwhile,
  • I wanted a pound of Andoulle sausage, but it was in 12 oz packages. The butcher said, "let me repackage that for you", took two packages and made a pound. Try that at Wal-Mart. Actually, try finding a butcher at Wal-Mart. It's all done at a warehouse fifty miles away.
  • The cashier from four registers away was free, saw me waiting in line, and came over and said, "I can help you on my register". Try that at Wal-Mart. Actually, at Wal-Mart, you are the cashier.
  • My wife has a disability, and they saw it, and called a bagger over to take it to the car. WM has no baggers.
  • Nobody put the beer on top of the bananas.
  • I didn't see a single person in stretch pants.
  • The aisles were clean.
  • Nobody at HT has ever written a letter to the President or Congress asking them to take away my "assault rifles".

Harris Teeter is an amazing store if you "play their game" as you worded it.
Their meat dept is as good as any out there. The quality of the meat is top notch.
The regular prices are high but the sales are very good indeed. Stock up on the sale items and you will do good overall. They have a lot of buy one get one free stuff in the meat dept (my main focus).
Last week I got pot roast BOGO, London Broil (BOGO) and I tries the Impossible Beef which was BOGO.
I am a meat guy and I've been waiting to try this brand of fake beef.
Reg price is $9 a pound but last week it was (still is) BOGO so it was $4.50 a pound.

I was impressed with it. Due to recent surgery I had to go to a low fat diet which removed Ground Chuck from my diet for a while.
So, this fake ground beef looked like real hamburger (to a point) and smelled like real ground beef.
I cooked it in my air fryer and it smelled like real hamburger while it cooked. I was floored because my wife has tried the other fake veggie burgers that, frankly, were terrible if you expected a burger. You got a veggie patty. As a veggie patty, it was ok.
As a burger, it sucked. It was not a burger. However, this Impossible Beef tasted very close to a real burger. The fake Whopper, with all the dressing, cheese and other stuff, must taste like a real Whopper! It impressed me to no end and I am a meat guy.

The last day of the sale is Tuesday so I plan to go tomorrow and pick up 4 more pounds (BOGO). I'll try meatloaf and meatballs. From what I've seen so far, they should taste like real ground beef. Did I mention I was impressed?

Right now Walmart does not offer it and I could not find it at Food Lion. If you are interested in it, try t but don't pay $9 per pound for hamburger.

Yeah, I noticed.
I usually end up with 4-5 bags, this way Im at a solid dozen!

25% of everything on the shelf in our WalMart is out of date. We have to check EVERY thing we put the cart - there's no way I'm going to assume that a WM employee is going to do the same.

Not using the shop online thing But went to Harris teeter Saturday as they has some meats on sale and I'd never tried their meats before.

Got home Opened the chuck roast I had bought and found shrimp shells on the bottom of the meat

Being highly allergic to shellfish and seafood in general I, was to say the least, very not happy. Took it back and was told it had to have happened in my house

Uuhhh Never to grace their doors again.

That’s a strange experience you had and certainly not the one Kroger would want. My experiences have been just the contrary. Whenever I’ve had an issue with a product, they’ve replaced it AND refunded the full purchase price. In fact, I’m now embarrassed to take stuff back because it makes me feel like I’m taking advantage. They always insist that’s their policy.

Last night, I grilled a HT Porterhouse Mrs. Jeppo dug out of the freezer. It was wonderful.
