1984 is here folks. Welcome to the new way to 'see something say something'

Google maps has been doing this with road alerts.

They don’t even need that once everyone has an Amazon Echo or Google Home device. Add in phone snooping and facial recognition and ‘they’ know where you are and what you are doing at all times.

If you have a cell phone in your house you might as well have an echo dot too. One is just more blatant about listening to you.

Good evening, parents.

Cabarrus County Schools is pleased to announce the launch of the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System (SS-ARS). The SS-ARS Program is being provided and sustained at no cost to us through Sandy Hook Promise (SHP), a national non-profit organization that works to improve school safety and culture.

This program teaches students, teachers and administrators how to recognize warning signs and signals, especially within social media, of individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others and Say Something to a trusted adult OR use its anonymous reporting system.

Specifically, the program educates participants to:

  • Recognize the signs and signals of at-risk behaviors – especially within social media
  • Take every sign and signal seriously; act quickly to get help by talking to a trusted adult OR
  • Report it anonymously through SS-ARS 24/7 Crisis Center, mobile app or website
  • Respond to and manage the submitted tip via multi-disciplinary educator and administrator teams
  • Sustain the curriculum and awareness via student clubs, in-school activities and call-to-action weeks
More than 7.5 million students and adults have been trained in Sandy Hook Promise’s signature, evidence-based Know the Signs programs that include Say Something Anonymous Reporting System. CCS students, teachers and administrators at our middle and high schools are in the process of completing the training.

You can access the Say Something reporting tool through our district website at www.cabarrus.k12.nc.us.

Thank you.

my MIL got us a echo or something for Christmas few years ago. I promptly placed in in the garbage upon arriving home and told wife not a chance in hell lol

What that old joke? It goes something like, "I said something to my wife about shooting Mr. XYZ. I laughed, my wife laughed, the toaster laughed. I shot the toaster".

On the surface I get while these Apps appeal to people. My first thought when I see things like this is always "Well ain't that nifty. I could see how getting a notification and avoiding a shootout, fire, whatever, would come in handy day to day." And then I get the creeps thinking about the nefarious nature of these things. Not to mention when I realize I've never been in a building on fire, caught in a shootout or any other thing of the sort.

I recall my mother saying, when onstar came out, she really wanted a car with it because they would know if she was ever in an accident. I said yeah and they'll also know about anything else you do and everywhere else you go too.

Anyone interested in listening to what's going on in my house, or hearing what I'm talking about on the phone, or knowing where I'm going in the car, will be bored to death very quickly! They deserve what they get.

If you have nothing to hide and all that.

I say IF school and police and govt agents were able to provide safety for everyone at any time with Godlike speed then why the hell havent they proven that ability time and again.

What we are doing is obliterating individual freedom in the name of unattainable safety.

Freedom and Liberty doesnt guarantee safety and neither can an all-seeing impotent big brother

I'm just a boring person with nothing to hide.

For me the tin foil is not about 'hiding' per se. Its about hacking, and IoT exposes people to immensely higher vulnerability levels. I doubt theres an IT or cyber security professional in the world that would disagree with that.

Id rather not be held ransom for $10k by some Russian scumbag who has a video of my wife and I...making a child...at the threat o release to PornHub. I do not have the time, expertise or energy to establish all the necessary defenses and maintain them, so I just don't participate. Ill pass on getting my refrigerator on a VPN behind next gen firewall. Never had a problem without a fridge doubling as my morning meteorologist. Similarly, if im going to have a girl in my house named Alexa, she is going to need to have leg up to her neck and love to hunt, because my wife can already take notes and turn on youtube for me :)

This is equivalent to saying I don’t need semiautomatic firearms because I have boring old revolvers and single shots.

The constitution guarantees the right to free speech and privacy ESPECIALLY in our homes. Warrants are to ensure someone in the judicial branch checks against the executive.

All this snitching technology is undermining all of our human rights
