Watches

Quick shot of the new Yema. I got it Monday. So far I like it. I’ll take some pictures in good lighting this weekend and compare it to my Omega. This is only my second watch so it’s nice to have a comparison.

F117 pilots. Considered true skunk work guys they were Bandits as a group. Carried glocks when bombing Serbia so they were ‘“ NATO” not US fliers if shot down, like that would fool anyone. Knives were various Cold Steel, they delighted in having seconds, prominently marked with a “2” as shown. Most USAF brass decried the secrecy around the Bandits.
Watch is a early Luminox metal case, seems to be holding up. My jeweler wants to clean it up and replace bezel but nah... it’s s dinosaur but a proud dinosaur.

I wear a Lumi I got 8 years ago. All day everyday. I am known to kill watches with ease. This one won't die. Worth the money. Took it off my wrist for the picture.

I’ve worn this one for years. I’ve got another one kind of like it that my wife bought me but the rubber strap stinks after sweating in it, so I don’t wear it much.

Well, I guess I’m trading up today. She bought me this one for Christmas!

The top watch was carried my my mothers grand father, the bottom one was carried by my dad’s grandfather. They both need cleaned and one is in need of some repair but there’s only a handful of people who work on these anymore.

"In other words, $20 in 1960 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $173.63 in 2020, a difference of $153.63 over 60 years. The 1960 inflation rate was 1.72%. The current inflation rate (2019 to 2020) is now 2.29% 1. If this number holds, $20 today will be equivalent in buying power to $20.46 next year."

Crazy.
SS Chevelle in 1969 new would be $22,000 today money. Not bad.

I got an iwatch for Christmas and have worn it everyday. It helps keep me connected and gives me some great information.

Love vostoks. I found a guy that made a bezel that took skx inserts, ended up giving that one to a buddy. Pretty slick setup though.

Circa mid 1930s to early 1950s. This one was serviced in 1954. Build date is Pre-1947. These are what the numbers say at least. Works perfectly btw. One of my favorite pieces.

There’s a date code on the movement. If made in the 1950’s on there should be on the case as well. L =50’s, M=60’s, N=70’s. For example L4 is 1954 and so on. If before 1950 they used symbols. If you post a picture we can probably determine a manufacture date.

I have inscriptions on the inside of the case but they aren't big enough for this phone camera to get very well

I went down the internet rabbit hole once and concluded best I could. Here is a link showing one made in 1947. Mine is identical except for the date. I have a square where his has 47.
