What is your Forum pic about? (Mooching Jeppos thunder)

During the last 4 years of my coast guard enlistment, I carried a MK18 rifle all over Iraq, Africa, South America, and the USA.

My pic is my 80% AR, semi auto, reproduction of a MK18... But this pic is old. Since then, I've purchased and added the old Eotech red dot that I was missing.

Times have changed. Technology has advanced.

But...

That crazy notion of a people, refusing to be ruled and believing they're capable of governing themselves in a free, independent, representative Republic?

Yeah; that idea is still alive and well.

244 years later, there are still enough folks latched onto liberty, like a bulldog on a bone, who will not let it go...

And anyone who tries to take it from them will likely get their ass bit.

That's what my picture is about...

That's what I am about.

It’s my fantasy football name and avatar. It’s derived as a play off of Kevin and Jenny’s baby named by Taco on The League (Chalupa Batman).

Figured it was self-explanatory...

But for those that have no idea, it’s a pic of the green $200 tax stamp required to transfer or make an NFA firearm. That includes short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns, silencers, destructive devices, machineguns, and any other weapons (AOWs)...include cane guns, pen guns, pistols in holsters that make them not identifiable, Shockwave style “shotguns” that have no stock and are <26” long, and many other things.

The $200 tax was set when the NFA was enacted in 1934 and the amount has (thankfully) not changed. The one exception to the $200 stamp is a red $5 stamp that’s required to transfer an existing AOW.

The NFA is anti-2A, thus the “Without Justification”.

Thanks for the explanation. I had no idea about all this.

Change it to tbe one that works.
Oh, wait....

Don't be a smart-a$$! (I'll be banned now for sure.)

But the one that works is....
the Springfield in .45! An awesome gun to shoot, and so smooth....but not as nice to shoot as the RIA! LOL.

Decisions, decisions....maybe the Rossi 971 (?)? It has the smoothest trigger of them all!

@Millie
I'm on my third Old Fashioned...being a smarty pants is pretty much all I can do now lol
Amateur! Lightweight! LOL.
I started my 2nd bottle of Bailey's at 9 pm! Get with the program!
And I'm in chat and setting off fireworks.....

A couple notes to add...

There are three main gun-control statutes that impact a lot of things. You can do a quick search to read more about them.

1. National Firearms Act of 1934 created all the registration/tax mess for the six categories I mentioned earlier. Handguns were originally included in the draft version of the NFA, but didn’t make the final. NFA is also referred to as Title II.

2. Gun Control Act of 1968 is the reason you need a dealer involved if the transaction crosses state lines. GCA is also referred to as Title I. The Brady Bill added to this and is where the background check system and all the Yes/No questions on a 4473 comes from.

3. Firearms Owner Protection Act of 1986 revised some of the GCA. It does include the Safe Passage provision which was written for you to be able to pass through a state that prohibits a certain firearm as long as your origination and destination locations allow that same firearm. Addresses some recordkeeping specifics and prohibits any national registry for non-NFA firearms. But it also includes the dreaded Hughes Amendment, which made manufacturing new machineguns for civilian ownership illegal...and is why the $800 M16 you could buy before this legislation will now cost you $35,000. (You can still transfer full-auto weapons manufactured before then, just can’t make new ones...so supply & demand has caused the ridiculous price increases).

One last note. It’s also why my “title” is Head Philatelist. Admittedly a word I had to look up and is not really used correctly. It’s a term for stamp collecting, and since I’m at 40+ stamps and the moderator for the NFA section here and on AR15.com, I figured it was appropriate. :D

Mine is a flathead Ford with an Ardun overhead valve conversation kit.
The Ardun OHV conversion for the venerable Ford flathead was designed by Zora Arkus-Duntov and his brother Yuri as the “Ardun Engine Company of New York” in the late forties.
I had a flathead in a '53 F-100 and the conversion was a lottery item.

Never heard of em...

Youtube is your friend.

Back when I lived in the PacNW, I saw em like 14 or 15 times from 2001 to 2006.

Alwwys a good show. Saw the first 4 shows of the 20year anniversary. San fran, portland, seattle, olywa.

Work prevented further shows. Stupid career.

Mine came from the old forum were I was having an argument with a forum member. At the time I was new to that forum and and had no avatar. During the argument this avatar popped into my head and it's been the one I've used ever since.
