NC 2nd Amendment Sanctuary Counties - map/updates

Pee Wee..... can you add in a lighter color or something on the counties where proposals are pending? Just to keep up with what is in the works? Great job by the way. I tried to do that and it looked like a 3 year old with a crayon.

If I can find a pending list or something ,I can

From looking back at this thread people have reported movements going on in the following counties (I hope I got this right):
Gaston
Macon
Buncomb
Randolph
Beaufort
Catawba
and possibly Davie and Iredell

Lemme axe a question. Are these resolutions passing because the make up of the county commissioners is mostly Republican? Or are there actually Democrats that aren't in lock step with the party?

Or, what I'm missing?

A very reasonable question.

However; I would bet the former.

I am quite disappointed, but not surprised. When I first moved out of NC in 1996 I'd bet it would have been the latter. I only hope enough of the sheeples might grow a pair and look to the future with open eyes.

Davidson county has 7 so called Republicans as commishneers. 3 of them in my OPINION, were fully supportive of the measure. The other 4 voted to save face. 2 of them, I feel would have rather had a root canal without Novocaine than to vote for it, but they did.

Willing to bet Mecklenburg don't have the balls to go 2A. !!!! Also waiting to see if Union does too.

. Is there anything negative being spewed about these NC counties acting preemptively? I know we're cheering here (well, most of us), but what about op-eds and figurehead statements?

I'm really watching this because I am gearing up to hit up our County Council on something similar. Although I'm not quite friends with the County Attorney, he knows me and I, him. I know he loves his guns. I plan to speak with him on this, too.

And although he's a registered Democrat, so far our sheriff has been acting like he has some sense. I think it's time to have a sit down with him, as well.

Yeah, I asked that this morning. They said it was still going through. The sad part is it barely passed here (and this is a conservative area).

Still a lot of old time Dems that vote for what the party leaders tell them to. Old habits are hard to break even when reality dictates it.

Here locally, I wouldn't call the media's response "negative"...more like "flippant".

Most all of them are regurgitating the same narrative..."These moves are purely symbolic." or "They have no teeth/carry no weight."

But the left loves symbolism, correct?

Indeed.

Personally, I believe this movement is much more than "symbolism" and anyone who thinks otherwise is, most likely, reading a lot of these folks wrong.

I can tell you that in my 46+ years, I cannot recall a time where I have witnessed as much discontent of the citizenry as we're seeing today. Apathy is giving way to anger and anger to action. Folks are fed up; their patience and tolerance is not as dense as it once was. It has worn down to a thin veneer.

Whether these actions stop at words or not remains to be seen. Suffice to say, the ball is now in someone else's court and what they do with that ball will determine just how much resolve is behind the resolutions.

Got this reply from Sheriff Christopher of Haywood County
These country Sheriff's know the deal.
20 minutes to get there.
They can either show up and collect the dead body that brought it on himself, or the one that didn't.
I'm tellin ya, they're tired of body-bagging the innocent old lady only to find the crackhead trying to pawn her ring at the pawn shop, and then watch the system let him out after 3 years and return home to continue.
When the BG gets capped in the face, these country Sheriff's and Deputies might not be smiling on the outside, but they are on the inside.

It’ll be a race to be last between:

Wake
Mecklenburg
Guilford
Orange
Durham
Don’t forget Buncombe.
Although I don’t really know their politics. I just know it’s the land of fruits and nuts inside the city proper.

Buncombe and Asheville are really 2 different lands. in Asheville, they mostly just wanna smoke weed and have gay sex. The guns really aren't much on the radar.
Buncombe County is much like any other mountain county, predominantly country folk that just wanna be left alone.
Example; Freedom Caucus Chairman Congressman Mark Meadows is the representative of Buncombe County.

I drove up to Prince Edward County VA today. They voted for Hillary in 2016, well 4500, to 4000, which is somewhat odd because they are in the middle of nowhere and the surrounding counties were strongly in the Trump camp in 2016. But they have a thriving town of Farmville, with a college there, and I was pleased to see they voted 5-3 to adopt a Sanctuary 2A position back in December. Not sure if has officially happened yet.

One of my friends is a shooting partner and friend of our county attorney. My friend sent him a text on my behalf. My question at the time, was more out of curiosity, than a call to action.

His response to my specific question of whether there's been chatter or not:

The only county I've heard of in SC discussing it is Horry but they didn't take any action because they didn't think it was needed. General Assembly needs to make SC a sanctuary state!

@BatteryOaksBilly :eek:

They’re smarter’n you give them credit for. They were in front of several hundred gun carrying citizens and decided to save more than their faces. ;)

I posted this in a thread about the Davidson County decision. It seems our newish Sheriff is so pro firearms that he personally phones and congratulates each new CHP holder.

It's the old "Silent Majority" contradicting the leftist totalitarian assertions that they speak for the masses. The more 2A Sanctuaries come on line, the more notice the left is given that their constant pushing isn't welcome.

Symbolic, no "teeth?" Well, maybe so. But people have been known to rally around and be encouraged by symbols before.

Sorry, brown liquor again..

Again, what does that do?

"Legally", nothing...

For all the post afterwords, where were you when this was happening in CO?
