I'm SBSing a Benelli M4 to a 14" barrel and I've been wanting a Salvo for awhile now. For those who have one, how do you love it, like it, or hate it? I shot one before with a 14" 870 and thought it was super rad! Also, photos are fun too so post those as well with your shotguns!

I like the Salvo 12, but honestly in is heavy and expensive. But I don't think there is any way around that, and it also works really well. I recently purchased the 6" rod kit, but I have not had a chance to shoot it yet.

The mounting system takes some work which involves wrenches, it is not as fast as a QD or even a direct thread suppressor. Taking it apart is somewhat easy, but I am just waiting for one of the bolts to snap off. I have shot it on a Super Black Eagle and the function was fine.

Do you have a particular question?

It is quiet and Silencerco's customer service is outstanding. I would lean more toward getting it.

MSRP on the Salvo has droped to $999 for 2017. Expect them to sell for around $850

Yeah, I saw them drop in price and just picked up a Benelli M4 and I figured it would be the most bad ass setup to have on a SBS. I was just more curious if people loved them and had any pros and cons. More of a general inquiry and all of that. :)

At this point I'd go salvo. The xcaliber is great and light but the price increase may not help them. They are also no longer including three chokes and now come with one. It will be priced close to the salvos new price point and the salvo will have a better warranty. As an owner of a Benelli m4 sbs. I like the looks of a round tube xcaliber over the salvo but moving forward I don't think the xcaliber will be the best choice.

Yeah I actually like the look of the Salvo's boxy look for sure. I think I'll just get a modified choke for my M4 and call that good for now. I didn't know about the xcaliber til just now but I do trust SilencerCo's warranty and I'll be living in SLC starting next week so it's not bad that they'll just be down the street from me.

I paid way more than $999, at that price I think the choice should be "TO SALVO".

Do you usually keep it at the 12" config? What is the shortest config that you've run to where it's still hearing safe to shoot?

Also, how do you like that M4 SBS?

Do y'all have factory Benelli 14" and 12" barrels or have you sent them off to be shortened? If so, who did you use? I have an M4 also, and I have thought about doing an SBS with it but I don't really want to cut the barrel. Its the American Flag model and I'd like to keep the barrel original and buy a second one.

I've just seen the barrels available that you could pick up but cutting it down would be cheaper if you have a good gunsmith.

Until this point I have run the 12" configuration. During the Black Friday sale I purchased the 6" rods. I have not shot them yet though. If I remember correctly, I think 8" is hearing safe at the ear, but not the muzzle. I chose 6" so it would be as short as possible. I shoot the 12" config without ear protection, but plan to use plugs with the 6" config. I will let the forum know once I get a chance to shoot it.

Yeah, keep me posted on that!

Mine is a factory 14"sbs. I love it. It's for "sale". As in I take it out and shoot it but haven't been offered the right amount of money to sell it.

Yeah, I thought about going with a factory Benelli M4 Entry 14" but I prefer to be able to just shoot my shotgun. I did get a used M4 for $1300 so I figured it was worth it.

I got mine on trade with only 20 rounds through it. Traded a can and stamp so we both are happy and for what I have in it, it would be very hard to replace.

Yeah, I think it's the one shotgun that I've always wanted and maybe down the road a 12" 870 pump SBS but the M4 is hard to beat.

If it's on an SBS I say go for it. I have no idea how someone could put one on the end of an 18.5"+ barrel though, unless they used a smaller rod kit.

I have an 8" rod kit, but never tried it out since I find the full size configuration, although almost ridiculously long and heavy, to sound nice and comfortable with soubsonic loads. That's out of a 12.5" 870.

Those are very nice too. Last few I've seen came off gun broker for around $300. They where used pd guns but for the price they where very nice.

I mean if I get one SBS and a Salvo, I might as well have another SBS right? :)
