Nevermind. Just needed a bigger hammer.

Soft punch wasn't getting the job done either. Dad's old Craftsmen punches persuaded it to move.

New 10-8 Performance NM rear sight installed, courtesy @Beef15's suggestion. Nothing sexy, but should aid in quicker target acquisition with the larger U notch.

You'da made a good ironworker. lol
I have lots of hammers. Some old, some new, some four generations old. A hammer for every occasion.

So a sight pusher isn't a necessity, eh? Did you use a vise or?

I have a good bench vice. I don't worry too much about the sight I'm pushing out.

If you are installing sights with tritium vials, hammers are their enemy.

I lay a file flat on the bench, and lay the sight bottom down on the file, then remove material on the bottom of the sight by pushing the sight back and forth firmly grasped with thumb and index finger, and file down the bottom of the new sight till it fits the doevtail without beating on it too much.

Then clean the sight set screw hole with alcohol and a qtip, dry, position the sight, put a small drop of blue or red locktite on the sight set screw threads. Screw the set screw down, then back off, then screw down, repeat, final tighten. Done.
