I’ve been doing some reading and wanted verification of the reloading recipe for garands chambered in .30-06.

Standard 06 dies work fine
150gr bullets - suggestions include brand or cullet style?
IMR 4064 - any other options to consider? I’ve read varying amounts...how much?
Laege rifle primers

I know running factory .30-06 may damage the op rod due to the high pressures. Anything else I should know?

I want to load as I have a few thousand rounds from LC and Greece sealed in spam cans or .30 cal ammo cans that I really don’t want to crack open...too darn valuable!!!

Shoot for 2650 FPS with the 150s.

I use 50.0 grains of 4064. I also use the special primers (CCI #34) designed for military rifles like the Garand or M14, although I ran at least 1500 rounds through a Garand using regular primers without any issues, before I ever heard of the 34's. You could use other powders, especially 4895, probably Varget.

Im loading 49.5 of imr 4064, cci 200, hornady 150 fmj. Getting 2780 on the chronograph.

Ive also run 46.5 of hogdon 4895 with same primers and bullet. Didnt chronograph those as they cycled fine, grouped fine, and didnt have sooty necks on spent cases..plus I only had 2lb of that powder so sort of a one off load for me.

Anyone running blc-2 on their m1? Looking to move to all ball powders once I run out of extruded. Curious what folks are loading.

I shoot my M1 competitively, so here's a load that is easy on the shoulder and very accurate.

Speer 125gr TNT
47-48gr IMR4895
Win LR primer
Hornady brass
3.2" OAL

This was shot at 200yds prone, with a sling. X-ring is 3" across

Another Speer 125 TNT fan here, inexpensive and shoot great with low recoil. My Garand likes 48.5 gr H4895 at 3.20 inch oal.

IMR 3031 works best for me but one has to be well practiced with their powder dispenser.
