Gauging interest in medical/trauma class....

TCCC is good and all but vast overkill for the non-military gunslinger. Civilians really just need the care under fire, maybe some of the tactical field care, but really do not need the tactical evacuation care or prolonged field care. STB and basic first aid is what 95% of need.

4-hour classes seem to be the ticket for most people, I can work towards that.

Very interested. If you can set a date I will put this in my schedule.

Sanford? Dunn? Southern Pines/Aberdeen area?
OR: I guess if I can drive 2+ hours to shoot with friends, I can drive a bit to learn some new skills.....

UPDATE: I am working to get affiliated with an organization so I can actually give out certification cards. I would love to share my knowledge but know it's better for y'all to get something tangible out of it. I am also working on getting affiliate instructor status with Tactical Medical Solutions.

When I do I will update and work on getting a couple classes going; maybe one Charlotte way, and one down towards Fayetteville or Sanford.

Feville/Sanford area I want in.
Thanks!

Second on the FVille/Sanford area! I'm up for that.
I'll be watching for more info.

In all honesty, my tangible takeaway is the knowledge and maybe a hand-out that you put together and had printed out nicely for me. I don't need (or want) a certification.

I need to do this but I know I wont. Hate classrooms blood and guts. Been a member of a least one gun club/range for the last 30yrs. I have been at a range, shooting a pistol match, when on 4 separate occasions, someone managed to shoot themselves 3 times and detonate a rnd on showing clear and require stitches from the shrapnel, once.

Sorry to be late to the party, but would be interested in this: Triangle area is best for me, but possibly could make it down to Dunn depending on date/time.

Re-upping my support for a CLT area class. Of course, the knowledge is #1, but I'd happily accept some kinda acknowledgement/paper/certificate, whatever.

Stickers! Patches! T-Shirts! Hats! Tattoos for the Heads of the Class! :)

Either of those is about the same trek for me so I'm down for either depending when

@Chuckman Back in 2015 I took a class from an instructor who is a senior staff instructor with DTI (John Farnam's school). He was also an affiliate instructor of a program put together by Anthony Barrera, MD called Tactical Treatment of Gunshot Wounds. It focused upon neutralizing threats and tending to GSW with an IBD. Once "the scene" was "secure" we had to survey victim(s) for the Seven Life-Threatening Injuries Tension Pneumothorax, Hemothorax, Flail Chest, Sucking chest wound, Exsanguination and Hypovolemia. We had kits put together that included a nasopharyngeal airway kit, Decompression needle, IBD, tape and a tourniquet. It covered the quick and dirty of stopping the blood loss and stabilizing the victim(s) just long enough for the EMTs to arrive and take over. The guy who put this together was at the time open in sharing his curriculum with anybody who was interested. If you google Doc Gunn his contact info comes right up. I don't know if this is helpful to you or not, but I wanted to put it out there for you to decide.
FWIW the class was a riot. Shooting and bandages and 14 gauge needles getting stuffed into a slab of ribs, followed by more shooting.
I might have a copy of the handout still in my training binder if you want to see it.

Hey @Chuckman ! We are an affiliate instructor for TMS already as well as many other medical companies, TECC instructor, DHS certified, etc, and a national Stop the Bleed instructor. If you ever want to team up on a class, such as a 4hr Beyond Stop the Bleed or something, or need to borrow some materials, let us know! We just added some new medical courses to our schedule we just posted yesterday or we can shoot for June. Just let us know, we will be glad to team up or loan you some gear.

@Pink_Vapor , I am getting there. I want to be able to offer folks a for-real card or certificate, not just impart my knowledge. Of course, if people are good with that, it would speed things up on my end. Getting instructor creds is just a time suck.

@Timfoilhat I will look into that. I have done training like that before, and it is enjoyable. I enjoy combining shooting and treatment.

@Apex Defense Group , thanks for the offer. I would be down for some joint training.

Thank you for your diligence!

Resurrecting this. I am coalescing 4-hour classes, offering quarterly. I will reach out regarding sites/venue.

Also, there are some types of non-kinesthetic training that can be 'online' (i.e., trauma kits/IFAKs, contents, what to get, etc.). These would not be four hours; probably just one (or two). I can do this on Zoom or another VTC format. Let me know if this works.

You must have ESPN, I was going to ask today.

I'm interested. I'm between Apex and Sanford, so Durham, Raleigh, Fayetteville, whatever.
