Traveling today from West Jefferson to TN and saw this. Thought it was a good omen.

Yeah that’s about a 20’ AR replica with lights leaning on a gun store’s sign. I almost cried at the display of boldness in them there hills.

Beats the crap out of me! My buddy drove so I dozed. It was right next to some McDonalds/Gas station place. Had to get my Egg
Mcmuffin on.

Got a college buddy that lives just outside Johnson City and Im pretty sure I've been by there.
Long ago, before that AR thing...

Btw...I do the steak, egg, and cheese thing :D

Cardiologist does not approve of much steak and sausage. And with my scars I try to obey. Unless it’s a really good ribeye or brisket.

Seeing that sign in this thread reaffirms my happiness to have moved out of the People's Socialist Republic of Kalifornia 5-years ago and finally settle in a FREE state.

I really don’t need to do that.

Sure, NC has more freedoms than CA but outside of that metric, or at least basing against the Constitution, NC isn’t a free state.
Sorry for in advance for slight thread hijack but what are your thoughts on MI gun laws? Per my wife there is some sort of handgun permit/registery. She didn't seem to know many details and when I asked her family (dad is a small town Deputy) nobody seemed to be able to give me a straight answer. From what I gathered there is a registry that most people (esp in rural areas) ignore. Only reason I ask is I am trying to convince her to move back but don't want to deal with such matters. The area she is from reminds me a lot of what my hometown was like 20 years ago.

MI has less restrictions that CA but similar restrictions to NC. Some Plus and some Minus.

Here is a list of MI gun laws.

Here is what NRA-ILA has to say about MI gun laws.

Looks like MI concealed carry permit is valid in more states that NC.

Thanks---I am somewhat familiar with MI gun laws but what I am confused about is the 'registration" actually is. From what I gather it seems similar like the NC PPP (pistol purchase permit) as opposed to an actual registry of what handguns someone owns. As bad as having to get a PPP is I have no intention of moving to a state where I have to register each and every handgun with the state.

I love Michigan.

I would not hesitate to ever move back, in a heartbeat, if I really knew the market would sustain itself.

Yes, there is a registry for handguns. I'd have to accept that if I chose to move back. Other than that, it's pretty much in line with NC.

I've killed deer up there with a 5.56 rifle, 5.56 pistol.

Thanks. According to my FIL the registry isn't a big deal and made it sound like less of a hassle than getting a PPP. As an aside---it seems like LEO (at least in the small towns) seemed to be more traditional for lack of a better word. Really reminded me of how the police were in my town growning up. My wife has several family members/friends in law enforcement and the lack of Punisher tats and Thin Blue Line crap was refreshing.

I lived in Grand Rapids MI for a time in the 80s, a tidy little town. I enjoyed Michigan except for the winters.
