This is another anime adapted to real screen but holy crap did they do a great job with this one.

It was so good, the plot so engaging, the main character so weirdly charismatic and the cinematography so well done that I watched the entire first season yesterday.

I mean, it was definitely campy, but I thought it was pretty good for what it is. They wisely kept the pace up contrary to the anime, which is the longest running anime in history at something like 15 seasons and still ongoing.

Definitely campy, which is sometimes a good thing and sometimes not.

With this I thought it was excellent.

I’m not an anime guy so I didn’t know this was originally anime until after the first episode. I thought where did this come from? Surely Netflix didn’t come up with this. So I looked up one piece and the anime was the first hit.

Critical Drinker did a good review on this last week and had added to my list, looking forward to watching!

I had no idea either until my daughter gave me the low down.

My biggest gripe is Koby. I really hate the actors portrayal even aside from the fact that Netflix went woke as usual and cast a trans actor for this role, but apparently he’s not even a major character in the manga or anime, so Netflix is going out of their way to push his storyline just because - and honestly, I don’t find his character arc remotely interesting, and the actor not animated enough to match the silliness of the role.

I also don’t like the casting for Usopp, either, but all of the others I thought were very well done. It doesn’t hurt that Emily Rudd is easy on the eyes, too.

only trans i need in my anime is sailor uranus, just as japan intended

I started watching it, fully expecting to be disappointed. Boy, was I surprised! They did a great job staying true to the original anime and keeping the story moving. The acting was great and the characters were very believable. After what they did to Cowboy Bebop, this was really a pleasant surprise.
