And -1 for @kcult. I'll 'splain that one in a sec.

I picked up a GA Rev9 from @TARHEELSTATE back in December. Took it out of the box to ooh and aah over it, completed the transaction and brought it home. It took me a couple of weeks to try it out, and when I did, I only ran a couple of mags through it in the long configuration.

So, I'm trying to change it out to the short config, but I can't get it broken down all the way. I try gripping with a cloth and channel locks, but no dice. I begin checking online for a solution when I stumble across an upgrade for my can. Ok. Cool. The upgrade consists of revised parts and a tool to grip said pieces. But, the upgrade is $145. Ouch.

I poke around the interwebs a little more and discover the revision was made to the can in early to mid 2016. I purchased mine in March 2017. In my opinion, I was sold NOS (new old stock).

I contacted Scott at THSF. He wasn't aware of a revised can and contacted his supplier. The supplier said some were sent back for the revision (upgrade), but it seems mine didn't. Scott contacted Griffin. Within a couple of days, I get an RMA from GA. There was no real explanation or task defined. They just asked for the can for a warranty review.

My can was sent and returned about a week later with the revised parts and tool, free of charge (with the exception of shipping to them).

I was very pleased with Scott's actions, as well as GA's. I am happy.

Oh, the -1 for me? Well, the bad mark is because of my half-assed research of a product that I'll be stuck with for quite a while, costs a lot, and takes months and a permission slip from Uncle Scam to obtain. The bulk of my research was YouTube reviews of performance. I mean, within a few minutes of struggling to separate the "selling point" of this can, I found out there was a revised can. Knowing that could have prevented some of the silliness that transpired, imo.

TL;DR version:

I bought a can without thoroughly researching it. I was sold an old revision can although the new revision had been available for almost a year. I cringed when learning the upgrade was $145. Scott made a call. Griffin hooked me up.
