Picked up this 1994 10/22 stainless today. This will be the basis for a Kidd parts build. I want to see if I can throw enough money at it to make it shoot! 🤣 🤣 Planning barrel, stock, and trigger as the first 3 items on the list. Then we will find out what ammo it likes best. Sound like a good plan?

Put the trigger in first and shoot it against your stock baseline groups.

I have one I got from Walmart years ago and the only change is the trigger.
Went from 8#+ to 2.5#

I've been wanting to build one for years, keep us posted.

In years past I have built a couple with Kidd parts. The barrel will make the most difference. Getting a really good barrel will be the chanllenge.

Unless there's a better one now, I'd go with a Bentz chamber'd barrel

This is from their website:

We believe these are the finest barrels on the market, each one is hand lapped. Our stainless steel barrel is bored and rifled by Lothar Walther in Germany. Tony Kidd then performs all the final machining to make our match barrel a worthy KIDD product. A proprietary chamber reamer is used to ensure the cartridge and bullet feed smoothly. Our barrels are chambered to accept .22 LR ammo and have a 1:16 twist

The Kidd barrels I have had in the past were good shooters and in researching barrels for this build, Kidd is always listed in top three. Federsen and Lilja being the others most often mentioned. But even then you are likely to see some shoot better than others within each brand. Kinda the "luck of the draw".

I'm a Kidd fan. I'd be happy to run their barrel. I don't know if they've got chamber options. I've a Volquartzen barrel with a Bentz chamber that shoots well. The std velocity bullets are pushed into the rifling for accuracy, sometimes they need to be shot to extract the round. CCI stingers are too long to chamber properly.

I did a full KIDD build, don't think there is a single Ruger component left in the entire thing anymore. It's a tack driver when I do my part.
