Just getting into the 10/22 game. How often do you clean? How do you lube? What do you use?

I saw a thread about this on a rimfire site and answers ran the gamut from never cleaned to keep it wet to only dry lube.

How do you clean barrel? Rod into muzzle?Otis/Bore snake?

Looks like I'll be shooting lead. How to clean that out without using a rod? Volquartsen forbids a rod. Will an Otis kit clean it out?

I'd wager I shoot more 22lr in a year then most. On a good year prob close to 15-20k rounds. I shoot speed matches though, and am not as worried about accuracy.

I clean mine when 1) I get malfunctions or 2) a few weeks before a big match.

I'll pull the bolt and wipe down, clean the receiver, and use a rod to clean. If I need a quick clean I'll use a bore snake. It does 90% of what I need.

I'm using CLP. Never had issues, so never changed.

I clean after every shooting trip because .22 can be so dirty.

I use a bore snake sprayed with CLP. I also use CLP to lube the rest of it.

For my Anschutz I clean when I notice shots are starting to stray. After I clean, it can take up to 50 rounds for it to come back. For my 10/22 and my Beretta Olympia 22lr, I just shoot clean and shoot. I am normally just shooting 2" steel with those.

I ordered an Otis kit. I'm unconvinced that it's effective, but it's looking like the only way to do this and maintain warranty.

I've got Hornady One Shot cleaner, One Shot Lube, Hoppes 9, EEZOX aerosol synthetic CLP, M-Pro7 cleaner, and FP10 lube. I'm pretty sure that's in excess of everything I'll need to handle the cleaning chores.

How wet/dry do you guys lube the action?

I used to use a dry lube prior to shooting suppressed, Wet with CLP to slow down the hard carbon caking.

On a 22lr rifle with CCI SV, I’ve found a suppressor doesn’t make much difference in sound reduction, so it mostly stays with the pistol.
