I haven't done it yet, but I suspect I'll have a 10mm in the stable here shortly. As I'm looking at getting setup for reloading, I have to decide on which way to go re: dies.

Is it better to go with 10mm specific die set (Lee) or is a .40S&W/10mm set good to go?

- Lee makes a 40S&W die set that "will load 10mm" and also makes a 10mm set that "will not load 40S&W"
- Dillon only makes a .40S&W/10mm combined set
- Hornady makes a combined set

So, it looks like LEE is the only one with a 'dedicated' 10mm die set.

I get that it's similar to .38Spcl and .357, 10mm can be thought of .40S&W "Magnum". I have zero intention to load 40S&W, so I'm strictly looking at going with what's best for 10mm.

I use the Lee .40/10mm combined set and don't have any problems. It could be tedious switching back and forth if you loaded .40, but I'm in the same boat as you. No need for loading .40 so all the dies stay adjusted where I need them and I load away.

if you ever get rid of the dies, it'll be easy to get rid of the combo. Otherwise the dies are the same except for the bullet seater stem I would imagine. Same deal as .38/.357, they make dedicated .357 dies but my combo set makes both types of ammo easy

I would get the combo. I have the Dillon dies, 40 was the very first caliber I reloaded. I recently acquired a 10mm gun and adjusted my dies for the 10mm round. I may eventually get another set of dies so I won't have to adjust when switching calibers, but I have not been shooting 40 much lately, so.....

I agree with Toprudder and also use Dillon. I have a not totally undeserved reputation for being able to "break an anvil with a rubber hammer", so the fewer times I have to set things up the better. Otherwise, I only increase my likelihood for error, and I hate pulling bullets!!!!

If you have multiple toolheads that you swap out (or plan too) then its moot.

If your adjusting dies in a single toolhead, consider making a spacer that let's you adjust the seater/crimp die with repeatability.

I have several spare tool heads, so it’ll be a set it and forget it situation.

Thanks all, I have a set of Dillon dies on the way.
