15 Round Mag - Glock 43X / Glock 48

I fondled one and it felt good. But the 43x is a little smaller and can hold the same amount of ammo. So for what I wanted then43x made more sense. I’ve got a CZ PCR and P01 so the 48 had a little too much overlap with those. Just slimmer. I could see a place for the 48 if I wasn’t so wedded to my compact CZ’s.

I carry a 43 everyday. So, if I get a 48 I have a 43x by default...

same here, for a carry gun, I don’t know why you would choose the 48 over the 43X. Unless, like @bigfelipe and you already have a 43 so you’ll have the option to run both, but for someone just looking for a carry gun, the 48 doesn’t make sense to me.

I prefer the 48 over the 43x for my carry pistol and it conceals just as easily for me, especially since it has the same grip. Now, I am not a flat belly like some, so all my pistols get carried at about the 3:30 position. That is probably the reason I prefer it over the 43x.

An inch in length makes a difference! (That's what she said).

Barrel length is easy to conceal. It's grip size and thickness that complicates carry. The extra velocity and sight radius make it a slightly more effective weapon too.

One thing I discovered is that I shoot the 43 and 48 the same, despite the increased sight radius and barrel length of the 48. I mean the same groups, at the same distance, in the same time out to maybe 15 yards.

I have been tempted to put the 43 slide on the 48 and carry it as a 43x, but the +1 Hyve base plate for the 43 carries infinitely more comfortably to me than the 48 due to it’s basepads and longer grip length of the 48 carried at 3:30 to 4:00, plus me taking up any and all of every chair and every car/truck seat I occupy while having it mashed against my “handles". Being large and in charge has it’s downsides. So I carry the 43.

True, the barrel is easy to conceal, but the shorter barrel is easier, especially with appendix carry. I think the added velocity is so minimal it doesn’t make much difference and I also would argue that there isn’t going to be much, if anything at all gained with slight increase in sight radius on the 48, especially when we’re talking about defensive shooting type situations.

another area I forgot to mention earlier that is a “pro” for the 43X is it will be better at recoil management than the 48. You have same size grip to hold onto with less reciprocating mass because of the smaller slide. Same concept as the 45/19X

But not the 3 pack with mag release. :(

Guess I’ll just grab a couple with mag release for now.

Ordered! Finally. And I didn’t even have to pay the 100% markup from the tool in the classifieds. :D

they’ve said they aren’t stocking the 3 pack until supply catches up with demand.

how much was that dude charging for the mag?

No issues at all, locked back after last round every time.
My newly-acquired magazines have never locked back the slide after the last round...not sure why. A spring in there? Ideas?

Don’t remember exactly. Think it was about $70 or something like that. It was discussed in the members only section. I need to go back and see if anyone verbally slapped him around. I didn’t because I follow all BST rules and am a he k of a nice guy.

Looks like he sold it for $75. Or at least said he did. And based on the short sale thread he does appear to be just as big a tool as I suspected. His dog probably thinks so too.

Ideas? Yeah, same as I commented in your other thread about it.....9/10, your thumb is riding the slide release.

I finally got to run some mags through my 43X yesterday.

First, I tried my 43 with new Strike Industries mag extensions. Slide didn't lock back, so I immediately blamed the extensions' use of the stock mag spring, and figured I would need stronger springs to get the extended mags to work properly. I never had that problem with the stock mag bases in place.

I then switched to the 43X with stock mag, and the slide didn't lock back on that, either. Being a brand-new, stock Glock, I figured the problem was me instead of the gun or mag; so I shot the next few mags with a "flying thumb", and had 100% proper function. The buddy I was shooting with ran a few mags through it, too, and had no issues. The function with the stock mags and the Shield Arms mags was the same. I didn't think to pull the 43 out of the bag to try the same techniques, but I suspect I was riding the release on that one, too.

The only other pistol with which I've had a thumb/lockback issue is my Gen4 19FS. I was experimenting with the backstraps, and with the largest backstrap installed, my thumb would put upward pressure on the bottom of the extended mag release, causing the slide to occasionally lock back when it shouldn't. This only happened with the large backstrap installed.

Millie, try shooting a few mags through your 48 with your right thumb stuck out like you're hitchhiking. Based on my experience, I'm agreeing with @Derek8404 .

Put a couple hundred rounds today through the new mag I got. Worked just as good as the first one and locked back/dropped free every time. I’m at around 800 rounds so far through 2 mags and these things are legit game changers.
