They get younger and younger:

A 15-year-old student is facing an attempted murder charge after he allegedly shot another student following a fight at New Hanover High School on Monday.

According the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, Chance Deablo has been taken into custody Monday afternoon. He’s been charged with:

  • Attempted first-degree murder
  • Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury
  • Bringing a weapon onto school grounds
  • Discharging a weapon on school grounds

Geez…

No thinking things through, no concern for others and no self-control/discipline…only losing of minds and the unleashing of impulsive anger…and probably over something really stupid.

But I’m pretty sure it won’t be Junior’s fault.

😡

How come I dont have his name and picture? How come I dont see his political yard signs or twitter posts from during the election?

How come I dont see his dad's bumper stickers or choice of hat?

What happened to when we were in school we would just fight on playground, shake hands and it's over. I remember bringing pocket knives to school and also guns were in plain sight in your truck hanging up on back glass. Where I went to school they had teacher workday on open day of seer season for years. Nobody would show up.for school.

Am sure he learned his lesson and will be back to school by Friday. A mind is a terrible thing to waste!

Just think , when i was in school we all carried pocket knives and during hunting season most
of the trucks in the parking lot had guns in them and no one ever got stabbed or shot.
Yep, the worst thing I ever used was my Chemistry textbook … I knocked the guy for a loop. But my Boker Tree stockman was never a thought and stayed in my pocket.

We had a covered 50 yard shooting range at my high school and would frequently use it after school. The assistant headmaster was a Marine in WWII. The Latin teacher was a reserve officer in Field Artillery. The History teacher had served in the military. He was old as dirt, and we all joked about him riding with R.E. Lee. The head of maintenance had served in the Pacific. We had several Rosie the Riveters and a war widow on the faculty. Guns were never a problem. About the worst thing that happened was when a moron accidently set off a tear gas pen in his pants pocket during class change. The hole blown through his pants made it very obvious who had done it. Also, the names of students who were in need of disciplinary action were posted on the board every Thursday for all to see.

Never had a cross word with anyone when in school until the gov had to set things right. Things went to crap real quick.

You guys were too tired from walking up hill both ways in the snow to bother shooing or stabbing anyway. Probably just sent harshly worded telegrams.

:)

My school did not have any school colors because the whole world was black and white. Just look at the old pictures if there is disbelief.

He's not going to face anything, not even a trip to the woodpile when he gets home.
I would have been more afraid of my Mom and Dad than anything the courts would do to me.
The jerk has street credit now. He will go far in his criminal career.

That's because a WWII Marine would have killed us kids if we messed around improperly with firearms. One of my childhood friend's father was a Marine in Nam. When we would misbehave as kids all he would need to do is glare our way and we would scatter like roaches when the lights came on.

I told my kids that and they were shocked. We also had a smoking area for students and teachers. Also left school for lunch at diners.

Oak hill military academy or something close or are you just really old? Not saying your really old in a bad way. Just that 40 years ago this might have been high school before all those awesome folks retired.

Class of 1969 in a school in Tennessee. It was not a military school.

I was telling the gf recently how many of these kids think about the right here and right now, and only their bubble...not much more.
There are too many that have no forward thinking or how things might affect others. They care about themselves. Hell, I care about me, too, but I also try to think about others and how many actions affect them.

What always amazes me when watching these videos is that nearly always several people in the crowd will casually step in to gratuitously hit or kick one of the participants in the fight.

from the article... "The injured student was taken to the hospital for treatment. Sheriff Ed McMahon said he believes the student’s injuries are not life-threatening."
you may already be the winner of one miserable sentence.

so... there is no other place they want to be?

Simply before and slightly after integration.
There is a lot of deep truth in that statement. We were, however, integrated. Our student population was actually quite diverse. All students were held to the same standards. People were not encouraged to wallow in victimhood but were encouraged to rise to their full potential. Blaming others for your own failures just did not get any traction.

A time when a father was in the household and the term baby daddy did not exist. A time before social services didn’t warn mommas getting married ended free food and lodging.

This is an interesting comment in the article: "This culture of retaliation has got to stop. We’re going to use all of our resources to make sure it stops.”

I think this speaks to how different the environment done of these "kids" are raised from that which many of us experienced. Their parents are pretty much getting condemning them to a live of crime and violence, deviod of critical life skills and ability to see beyond the immediate.

“Me too” thuggery.

Class of 1965 not so lenient....No Smoking area and No leaving at lunch...the rest was spot on for us here in S.C.
One of our seniors was caught smoking in the boiler room about a week before the end of school and was not allowed to go through graduation with his class. We ate family style with a faculty member at each table. We stayed at the table until the faculty member left. The faculty member only left after the headmaster left. We had to wear coats and ties for Chapel in the morning and for lunch. The athletic teams had to wear coats and ties when traveling to away games. The girls had uniforms that were inspected every day in their first class. This school was not associated with any religious group.

I brought my shotgun to school all thru hunting season. Most were in a gun rack of the truck in full view. No problem. Teachers would bum cigarettes in the smoke pad.

We had race riots from middle school thru my sophomore year. 350 people fighting one day. School was closed for a week. Came back with National Guard and Hickory Police on the premise. Started again. Off for another week.

The school fired both principals. Hired two big goons from Elisabeth City who were given orders to do anything to restore order. I watched more than once students get choked out or thrown down a set of stairs. That fight in the video was mild. We had cousins and uncles showing up on campus to fight white students.

Let me say this. When you hire someone with a set of balls and give them a long leash magic happens. If there had been cameras, cell phones, and social media Hickory would have burned to the ground.

Funny thing … the shooter was charged as a juvenile (even though the charges are damn serious) and sent to a juvenile facility. The New Hanover DA is considering moving the case to the adult court but is weighing the factors of the case. What factors? The little punk took a gun onto school property and shot another student. Attempted murder, felonious assault with a deadly weapon, illegal possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon on school grounds and a few others I’m sure and the DA is considering if it should be in adult court? Hmmm … little Chance is a good boy and was just … you can complete the reason for considering it.

All inmates less than 18 have to be housed in a juvenile facility per NC state law. The charges can only be taken adult under certain circumstances which will probably be completely met however they have to make the attempt and investigate the entire case. NC law drastically changed within the last two years on juvenile law vs adult. It's pretty simple answers that a lay person honestly wouldn't understand.

After 2020 he’s not getting an adult trial.
Unfortunately, you might be spot on.
I know NC changed laws and, I think, unless a kid is 18+ legal action is much much harder
