This 1878 Martini-Henry serial number AC5665 saw service with the British Army as indicated by the numerous acceptace aand property marks and was later transferred to the Colonial forces in India as shown by the Ft Williams Arsenal stamp and the Nepalese markings shown below. Serial number AC5665 was manufactured at the Royal Small Arms Factory at Enfield between April 1877-March 1878 which is the production year for Enfield, one of 35,630 made in that year. The "2" on the barrel and action denote is has been passed into the second class reserve, which was set down in criterion from Enfield, and after inspection at Birmingham Bagot St. I've shot this and it's still very accurate; I could just imagine this serving at the defense of Rorke's Drift or some other battle of the 1879 Anglo-Zula War!
