My daughter was coming home from school for the weekend and called me just before lunch. She made a stop in High Point and said when she started back up her check engine light came on. She said everything seemed to be running fine so I told her to drive it on home and told her to stop by our mechanic to see if he could read the code.

She stopped by and he read the code and told her she needed the O2 sensor, bank 1, sensor 1 and he showed her which one it was. She called me and told me what it was and I went online and ordered it from Advance Auto to pick up in store and saved 25%, $40 off of $159.99 sensor.

She went to Advance picked up the sensor and the socket to fit. I called her and told her to go ahead and spray some PB Blaster on the threads and I would fix it this weekend. Left work early to come home and take care of it and on the way home I get a text picture, below, and phone call that she had already taken the old one out, put anti-seize on the threads and installed the new one. She then took the OB2 reader out and deleted the code, all before I got home to do it.

She said she learned that mechanics should not have long hair! Very proud of her. Not bad for a 19 y/o majoring in biology/pre-med with a 4.0 GPA. She has also helped fix our clothes dryer and dishwasher. She has been sitting on the arm of my recliner and on me most of the evening.

I predict you'll need more guns and training due to the guys that will eventually find this out. And you should be one proud papa.

That's some awesome sauce right there. You have every reason to be proud of her.

My wife and I weren't blessed, or cursed with children, bit I always told my wife that between us we would have raised a very strong and well balanced daughter. Looks like we're not the only ones. Well done, sir.

Girl power. Very cool sir.

Mine called when tired batteries made her smoke detector begin beeping. :(

That's awesome, good for her.
Where'd she get the anti seize ? Its not something you find in an average garage.

First, I failed as a parent in some obvious ways.

Second, did she do it, or did she sweet talk the guy at the parts store to do it for her. There is no wrong answer.

That is awesome. Most 19.....hell, most people under 35 can't seem to screw in a lightbulb nowadays. Job well done to the both of you.

She did it all by herself. I told her she should have done it in the parking lot at Advance and watched the guys faces working in the store. The sensor came with a small packet of anti-seize, but I have a tub of it in the garage.

I have told her that she can start dating when she is 30. That way she will have most of her schooling finished. Her plans are to become a neonatologist working with the babies in the NICU.

She is wanting to go muzzle loading this evening and is a very good shot.

She is as far from the antifa crowd as anyone could be. She enjoys debating her liberal professors and gets a lot of respect from them.

Good on her, good on you for raising her right

Wow congrats sir. You have raised a fine young lady. I know a lot of guys that can’t hardly fuel their own vehicle, let alone change an O2 sensor.

So, since you're right around the corner from me...I just need to plan my shadetree mechanic weekends based on her coming home schedule. Got it. :D

Dang! I just scraped the bejesus out of both my arms yesterday changing my plugs and wires! If I'd have only known, I'd have had her do them!

Having met you both, I'm not surprised, but quite impressed! You're obviously doing a whole lot correctly, keep it up!

Im a Service manager for a Hendrick auto/truck dealership. I have entry level techs that have been with me for over a year that could have NOT accomplished that repair without me holding their hand every step of the way.
She wouldn't happen to be looking for a career change would she?
